Newcastle United 0-1 Everton (25/05/25)

Still can’t work out what it was today that we were so poor in such a huge game.

Can’t question the mentality after the cup run proved where not bottlers,  poor tactics, the players ran out of steam finally, or we have just struggled against these type of teams at home this season, probably a combination of all 3.

We also struggled badly against Leicester at home when we last qualified for the CL funny old game.

Very obvious still we're reliant on a fully fit first 11, the drop off is too severe, big Joe has been an insane miss the last 2 games and we've looked toothless with Isak way off it.

Something difficult about trying to enjoy failing our way to victory today, but I'm sure when the dust settles all I'll be bothered about is the Carabau Cup win and CL footy next season!

In incredibly key circumstances we desperately needed a goal against the 13th best side in the league and couldn’t get it. That game really could and should have ruined our season but fortunately we’ve got away with it.

We desperately need a backup striker, starting winger and central midfielder who can unlock a door. I’m sure Eddie knows that.

That's the third time Ive seen Alcaraz play well since Moyes joined. He was good at Southampton too and he's only 22. Would take.

Definitely

Relieved and happy as Larry but can't get over them putting in that stinker, fucking lifting :icon_puke_l:

Someone mentioned the chaotic nature of the game 👍.

I've been banging on about twists and turns for weeks but I didn't envisage Man U hauling our spotty arses over the line

We really lack ideas of breaking teams down who sit with a low block.

For as much as our midfield can be a beast, they can be incredibly lacking in creativity.

It also doesn’t help that we just play the ball on the wings and keep passing it between our wingers and WB’s instead of just crossing the fucking ball into the box.

Songs like 'Hey Jude', 'Rockin All Over The World' and 'Sweet Caroline' are such predictable party tunes, played at every dull bash all over the country. Next up will be Girls just Wanna Have Fun, Livin On A Prayer, Summer Of '69, YMCA, Man I Feel Lile A Woman, Wonderwall, Dancing Queen, Hi Ho Silver Lining and Come On Eileen. Awful stuff.

We’ve already had Girls Just Wanna Have Fun this season, believe it or not.

You’re right though, it’s shit. My thoughts on Hey Jude are well publicized on here. After the cup final everyone was singing along to 17 Going Under, never once has it been played at SJP. A song by a local lad to boot.

A mix of thinking it would be easier than it was, struggling against a deep defence, and trying too hard to make things happen.

It happens. It didn’t matter. Howay the Lads.

I still can't get over that that's how we qualified for the Champions League

So many moments in the season. I even think back to Barnes's beauty against Wolves when we'd played badly. Really hard to pick one definitive moment but I reckon I'd go with Man United beating Villa

Was a lovely feeling when Villa went 2 down. Everyone chanting and happy. The moment Everton’s header hit the back of the net was absolutely gut wrenching.
