Would rather have players who want to play for us than who think we're just an opportunistic step.

Get rid of most of the current first team. They came because we were the best option at the time. Can't remember stories of any of them turning down larger clubs or bigger wages.

Trippier said he would have got more money staying at Atleti.

For many we still are. Difference is they all seen us a step up and they've consequently stepped up. Players who thought they were bigger than us aren't the attitude that we want or need. That's not to say Ekitike still falls in that bracket (for example), he may have had a reality check, that sitting on the bench as a young man with ambition wasn't the best place to be. As players reach their peak, the squad does, then the ceiling needs lifting. Then higher calibre players want to come here to also become the best version of themselves, until such a point that they don't want to leave, because you have a hungry side competing at the highest level and the billy big billocks get shown up by them. Like Man United's squad.

Yes we are getting higher calibre players but because of that  there are clubs that are currently higher than us have more pull for the calibre of players we are after.

Oh and I don't think wed have been after Ekitike to sit on the bench, same had it been Pedro or Delap.

If they thought we were the best option, then they wanted to play for us.  He didn't say they had to have a childhood desire to play for the club.  Just that they are happy to sign.  Not a player who's waiting for another club to come in, but maybe will sign eventually if that doesn't happen.

Oh come on Tonali , Isak, Botman, Bruno etc etc wouldn't have had to come out and say he'd rather be signing for Real Madrid for you to know it.

Did Ekitike wait for another club to come in ? As Im aware we never had a bid accepted then walked away when Liverpool showed up. FWIW Elitike has said he'd have come to us if PSG hadn't turned up

Of course we weren't, my point is that he chose PSG previously and ended up on the bench, which he thought was a good move for him but wasn't.

I am also well aware that clubs with more recent or overall success are after similar players, but we still have to reach for players that we feel will improve us.

If that means we get ones who will cherish it more, and be more focused on being the best version of themselves rather than simply thinking they already are just that then perhaps it isn't a bad thing, is what I am suggesting. It is better for the mentality of the squad.

Wants Tottenham according to Talksport.

which makes sense to be fair.

Not really a shock. Won't have to relocate, probably paid more than we would pay, knows the boss has faith and he can thrive under him.

Spurs arent worried bidding because they know he will come.

If Mbuema goes, I can't see Wissa going anywhere.

He's not going anyway at the prices being mentioned. We aren't paying £40m for a 29 year old and neither are Spurs.

Wish they'd stop this "only wanted" shit. Aye he'd only want Manchester United if real Madrid were in for him.

Something Romano aka the worst thing to happen in modern football recently introduced and its spreading.

"Mbeumo only wanted Man Utd"

Right.
