Loving the optimism of those who say he'll be fine as I've seen zero evidence so far to agree with that. Pushing 30 and already looks like he can barely move. Appeared totally disinterested for a lot of his time on the pitch. Looks a bit overweight as well which is disgraceful for a Premier League footballer.

At least with Woltemade he looked good when he first came and you can't knock his attitude and effort.

Even Elanga has shown signs that there's a bit of a rough diamond that just needs polished up a bit as we seen on Tuesday night.

Just seen nowt at all with this lad and it's slightly worrying at a time when he should be getting fitter and fitter now that he's getting less and less time on the pitch.

Yep - Woltemade seems like an all round good lad, decent footballer, just a bad fit.  I get the impression that Wissa is a wrang’un

Howe says Yoane Wissa, who was an unused sub against Barcelona, is injury free, ahead of Saturday's trip to Chelsea in the Premier League, which is live on Sky Sports.

"Yoane is fit," said Howe. "Fitter, probably, than at any stage in his time with us. He's training with the group whenever we train and no injury concerns at all.

"The challenge for Yoane is, when introduced and on the pitch, he's got to perform."

No nonsense from Eddie here.

I'm not sure he's disinterested tbh, it might just be he's not really sure how to play in our team. From his goals videos, he looks the poacher type rather than someone who presses relentlessly across half the pitch area. He has bursts of pressing where he looks pretty rapid, but then you barely see him move after a couple of those. Maybe he's just not up to it physically.

Honestly thought when he got that tap-in in the cup against Fulham in his first start that he was going to be what we'd been lacking up to that point. Just isn't working out for either Newcastle or Wissa.

Same, I was really excited.

He’s been a disgrace ever since really

I'm not going to pile in on him - already said he's been a disappointment so far, once or twice no need for me to bang on about it.

Have to confess, I'd not watched him much at all prior to him signing here. So what I'm not sure about is what sort of striker he actually is. People on here have said he's more a goal poacher type than a Gordon type pressing machine so I'm inclined to go with their views if they've paid more attention.

But then we don't really have a team set up for a poacher, and if he's lost half a yard of pace after injury that is a further problem.

Daft thing is, him and Wolt together could work if that is indeed the kind of striker he is, getting on to clever flicks etc. But then, nobody plays with two strikers any more.

And it means setting the team up in a completely different way, and I think there was a press conference where Howe basically dismissed the idea of the two playing together very often, so I guess he thinks similarly.

Thought the comment before from Howe was revealing for someone that rarely gives anything away in press conferences about him having to actually perform. He's maybe not what we thought we'd bought and Howe wasn't deflecting using his fitness as an excuse for him - just that he needs to be better. Maybe it was meant more as a bit of gee up.

I remember when he was asked similar questions about Willock a few months ago,  Howe gave a similar response. Willock seemed to kick on a bit after that and put in some vintage performances for us.

No idea if it'll have the same effect on Yoanne, but we can hope.

Fitter than he's ever been since signing and yet Osula sees the pitch ahead of him. Really damning that and makes me think we'll be looking to move him on in the summer if we can.

He's too small to be any sort of physical presence or focul point for us.

Fucking get rid asap and give the 9 to someone who deserves it.

That’s about as brutal as Howe gets (at least in public).

The thing is, he was supposedly lined up as a replacement for Wilson not Isak, so presumably that was in the works before the summer drama with Isak's exit. So we must have scouted him extensively and had a good idea of what he brought to the table. I don't buy into this idea that he's disinterested either, pretty sure we'd have done our homework and checked on his character references as well.

So the conclusion I draw from that is, we ended up overpaying for him, but he should still be a top level striker for a couple of seasons at least. Unless we really didn't do our homework which I find hard to believe.

If he's fitter than he's ever been since joining us, that doesn't really line up with the problem with his performances being through lack of effort does it?

he was on strike prior. Hasn’t made an effort to win over the fans, haven’t seen him put in real effort. I didn’t see much of him at Brentford, maybe they suit him better, but he could bust a gut trying to fit in.

that said, we’ve bought 2 strikers and a winger and none of them can play together and none help create a coherent attack. 170 million pounds. Don’t think we can afford for Eddie not to be able to get something out of this.

played together, Wissa defends from rw and maybe Ramsey or Willock push over to play winger when we have the ball? Right now it seems like Eddie is saying they’ve not worked out and we’re not changing the system to suit them.

Thomas Frank coming back to the prem and taking Wissa on loan would be the best scenario I think.

Sell him now and we get 20m max and we probably have to pay some of his wages.

Maybe just the vibe he gives off and how it looks but I just think he always looks half arsed. I'm not sure Woltemade knows how to play in this team either but I just don't get that with him. Woltemade seems desperate to succeed and I think his recent bad run has really devastated him.

The amount of times I've seen our wingers putting balls into the box and Wissa is just ambling around outside the penalty area just really grates on me. Whether he knows his role or not he should know that in those situations he needs to be busting a gut to get onto the end of things. Think he's really testing Howes patience now as well.
