Maybe the intense training has done him in Haha maybe you’re right! It just all feels very ‘final big payday’ to me. It happens with players sometimes - Winston Bogarde is the one who always sticks out in my head in terms of that. Wonder if Howe has had a chat with his scouting team over the Sunday family dinner table?

Kid Icarus
16 minutes ago, TheBrownBottle said: Being unfit = potential docking of wages. Being disinterested on the pitch doesn’t. Howe’s just said that the lad is fit and needs to buck his ideas up - the only defence for him previously was a lack of fitness. Howe isn’t the type to call players out in public, so he must be steaming. It just doesn't sound at all plausible for a player to be both the fittest they've ever been while they've been here then consciously think ah that'll do, I'll not bother now I'm on the pitch. Howe's said he needs to perform, taking from that that there's an issue with laziness is a bit of an assumption. He's said the same thing publicly about them performing before before "I have to ask them to be really honest and look at their best levels, and judge them against that now in this current moment. I don't think there are too many who can say they are playing their best. That then gives us growth to improve." and apparently said similar to them last season in private when certain players (Gordon and Isak were insinuated) weren't hitting the heights. It could be an accusation of laziness from Howe, but I think that's a bit of confirmation bias based on his performances tbh, he's said it before. It’s an implied attitude problem to me - and the same goes for Gordon and Isak (Isak was pretty much borne out I’d say). If it was a form issue, Wissa would be in amongst it, missing chances. Shearergol
No way is this him not trying. He’s just bang out of form. Whether he ever gets it back for us is another question.

For what it's worth i didn't think he meant untrainable or disinterested, hence his fitness comment. So, he's ready to play, he just needs to earn his place with actual performances. Kick up the backside maybe. I was gagging for Wissa to start initially before the Dr Congo debacle to give Wolt a chance to bed into the league - a player I do still think is a huge talent and has been used out of position by necessity, or as an experiment. On which note, I'll always be grateful for Ciaran Clark getting sent off for making Joelinton the beast he was and still is, an experiment nobody expected. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Which is a slight diversion from the Wissa subject, I fully admit.

I agree with this. Being "rubbish" doesn't necessarily equate to bad attitude. Yes it's a damning statement and understandable as I'm sure Howe is disappointed by his poor form - he's under pressure himself and signings reflect badly on him. Theregulars
I’m sure I remember Howe saying similar about Hall and Gordon, but that was a lot more understandable and acceptable given their age. I hope it’s just a motivation thing but it makes little sense when we’ve obviously needed him so badly and he’s produced little. for me the bizarre bit is I’m sure when I watched him for Brentford he ran around and pressed a lot and generally looked sharp and snappy. I sometimes play football with Adam Clery and he was saying the injury is much worse than was let on, but then why not just say he’s still not fully fit. All-in hard not to conclude that Howe is probably telling the truth and he’s just not playing very well. Maybe one of those that shone in a particular system or squad but just doesn’t translate somewhere else.

I think he's made poor decisions which have led to us losing possession quite a few times as well. It's not necessarily an attitude problem, might just be he's playing poor football in general. Gottlob
Is it possible, given his age and relative experience, that he's upset about not being part of the leadership team?

Stottie
We've seen a goalscorer not score for us and generally look pretty bad before with Chris Wood. Sometimes transfers just don't work out. Wood was excellent the following season for Forest.
