As much as I don’t approve of players going on strike, I’m more concerned with self-interest. Van Dijk behaved terribly to get his move to Liverpool, I doubt anyone would say his character has had a negative effect on them.

It’s up to clubs to shut it down and make it clear the tactic won’t work for them. I’m in favour of clubs (including Brentford) taking a hardline with players that do it. If they don’t take a hardline then in the long run that’s their loss.

No idea what's gone on with Isak but as for Wissa:

A lot of people on here are questioning his character.

It seems to be generally accepted he was offered conditions for an exit from Brentford and the club have changed their mind.

If someone promised something to you, a major, life changing promise, and then went back on their word, would you expect anyone to question your character if you distanced yourself from the person who reneged on that promise?

Wouldn't you be a complete mug, with absolutely no self respect, if you acted any other way?

His behaviour is also rank just like Isak's but I'll still take him. Ideally to play on Monday.

He's turned up to training, hasn't sent any memos out and hasn't vowed to never play for the club again.

Not even comparable.

Wissa and Isak’s training schedule, up until this week, have been near identical. Training alone away from the group.

Wissa hasn’t released a written Instagram statement… instead a somehow even more petulant black profile pick and removal of everything relating to Brentford.

And via his agents / media he’s made identical promises to not play for them again.

Literally the only thing that makes Wissa different is that he’s 29 and he gets “some” level of sympathy because he wants one big chance to play in the CL.

In every other sense, both players acting the same.

The difference as I see it is the person who made the promise to Wissa is still there, the person who made a promise to Isak isn't.

Very similar behaviour, although it's quite clear that Wissa has clearly had some sort of agreement with his club that he could leave in certain circumstances, and they are reneging on that in his eyes. That's definitely not the case with Isak.

Still inexcusable from both players.

Surely we aren't having another Guehi situation and just bidding without actually having a chance of them agreeing

I think everyone expected us to get Guehi to be fair , they just didn’t expect Parish to be a tit

Will wait til more reliable sources report this BUT if this gets rejected surely it's time to move on?

Would love to have him in time to play some part on Monday, but assuming we're probably too late for that even if this offer is accepted today?

If it was signed off by tomorrow (:yao:) , he’d get two training sessions in and probably be alright for the bench.

We have until Friday 12pm to get him signed for him to play, even a cameo would be better than 90 minutes of Gordon/Osula
