If Isak is annoyed at us not strengthening then this could be a move to placate him and assuage him that we have the ambition we did a few seasons ago.

More than likely though it’s just a replacement.

Even more likely though is Man United, who can offer him first team football and more money, shit themselves that they haven’t bought a striker yet and swoop in last minute.

Eddie's been in on it as well then. With Delap, Pedro and Ekitike, hes said the plan is for both.

if MU bid for him then there's only one winner here

they will offer him way more than us and he will choose them

simple as that really

Do they even have the money now? They splurged a load on Mbuemo and Cunha, not sure they haven't blown their wad on those two. Sesko would be a huge outlay on top of that given they are already pretty tight for cash.

Supposedly selling Antony.

£50 million from the Saudis for Antony might help

rumours PIF come to the rescue by paying big for their flop Antony to move to Saudi league which can help them to outbid us for Sesko, how nice. doing the same for Darwin Nuney to help them to find the cash for Isak...

If we could somehow get the Sesko deal done while Man U are still out of the picture, that pulls this window out of the fire. Imagine we keep Isak as well then Liverpool have to come up against us at St James with only flaky Ekitike as their big gun. Tables turned!

They still have quite a bit to amortise on him, they would only get around £13-15m to play with out of that £50m

The thing that annoys me about him going there is that we will end up with Wissa and DCL as our strikers next season. Which is an absolute scandal.

That would be a pork markets disgrace!

If Sesko doesn't work out we should seriously consider going for Romulo, especially if we're going to have Isak or Wissa with their Premier League experience in place too.

He's got a similar profile to Sesko, and the fact Leipzig are in for him is a good sign, we shouldn't be waiting for him to do  well at Leipzig and everyone is sniffing around, as we just don't have that luxury at the minute.

He's only going to cost around £20 million from Goztepe, and that would be another huge plus as it will allow for a lot of wiggle room financially.

We'll be able to offer more than Leipzig can, and so can play the big bad bully for once.

Don't know why we aren't doing more deals like this in the first place. I imagined this was Mitchell's forte before it all went tits up.

It's frustrating, but if we get there in the end I guess that's the most important thing.

Obviously I'm not alone in this but I'm absolutely aching for some good news. If we got this guy in it would be brilliant; Isak replaced with the highest quality we're likely to get, and a very timely confidence boost re recruitment generally.

Isak is a sensational striker, truly elite, and we'll be weaker without him. But he's not everything to us. The most frustrating thing about him leaving would be moreso the fact he's lining up for a competitor, above the fact that we don't have him any more. In all honesty I can probably cope pretty well with exchanging one sensational player for an unearthly sum of money; we all knew a big sale could happen at some point (I expected Bruno to leave 13 months ago tbh).

All this to say, we can still be a very good team in Eddie Howe's image if we replace Isak well, and Sesko looks really exciting. Add Wissa to that and we've done very well.

At this point I can barely deal with another false dawn so crossing everything that this happens. It should be an appealing move for him. I wonder if he likes number 9s.

We will be fine without him. Team is the most important thing. If he doesn’t want to be part of that then bye.

Agree with all of this

If Isak is insistent he is going, which he seems like he is, then we need to make the best of a bad situation.

We need two strikers (plus Osula) by the time we go to Villa Park. If that’s Wissa and one of Isak or Sesko then that’s about the best we can hope for.

In reality we need to get this sorted asap because there’s absolutely no way the window can shut without a top quality CB addition too, and ideally a CM and  keeper.

It’s that he’s probably going to Liverpool that’s the real blow for me. I always knew we’d lose Isak sooner rather than later (although I thought/hoped it would be next summer) but first losing out on Ekitike and then them grabbing Isak from us… it’s a bit much.
