I think we have increased our revenue and stand much stronger within the PSR rules than a year ago.

We had a plan to sign 3-4 very good players for £40M or even up to £50M each. But the market has gone up, so theese players today actually goes for £60-70M.

Something we didn't see coming.

We also saw ourself as a much more attractive club to come to than we really are. I think we should be looking for more "unknown" or up and coming players who doesn't have the option to sign for the "biggest" clubs yet and who really sees coming to Newcastle as a dream move.

Maybe we're aiming to high to early?

No we aren’t looking at the same profile of players. Elanga, Joao Pedro (even Cunha and Mbeumo if we were actually interested) are all off the back of successful PL seasons which is massively inflating their value.

We all thought we’d be fishing on the continent for the next Bruno/Botman in the £30m-£40m price range but we don’t seem to want to take the risk.

I think the price point is now £45-60m at the lowest end, but I still agree.

I think Sesko is the right type of profile. The player in the top club orbit that nobody is going for, or at least the competition is in Europe, not the PL top 6. That's the Botman, Isak & Bruno profile. Sesko fits that.

Pletti gives bad news - Another transfer bites the dust

He is a gobshite though. Was completely wrong on the Trippier to Bayern rumours in January.

On these - Botman was protracted over 2 windows. But from memory we sorted it in the summer quickly with our battle with Milan.

Bruno, Isak & Tonali completed quickly once we really went for them.

In football - you have to to be aggressive and quick.  If we are genuinely after this lad - we need to move quickly.

The Sesko story from the beginning is an obviously agent driven ‘generate some interest’ attempt. Surely the only way we could possibly sign him is by massively overpaying his wages, his agent and probably outbidding a cartel club (things we have refused to do all summer). I appreciate why this thread exists out of our sheer desperation but I’d honestly be amazed if he ends up here.

Neither Bruno nor Tonali were out the blue like Isak. There was time for both deals to be hijacked ( add in the way agents work, I'll bet other clubs knew about both  situations before they became public).I guess they weren't because those other clubs weren't sufficiently interested.
