I'm definitely not criticising Ramsey as a target. I actually think it's quite an exciting link. My point is more in reference to us not being able to attract the next level of player, which points to a bigger issue in the capabilities of our recruitment team. Whatever Mitchell was referring to when he said 'not fit for purpose', whether it was the right team not in place or the identification of targets, his comment seems to have some weight. If we get Wissa, the lad from Leicester, Ramsey and another decent striker, you'd have to call that a decent window, but when we could potentially have had Ekitike, Pedro, Trafford, Sesko and possibly Guehi, it highlights that we're now shopping at the tier below.

Regardless, something needs addressing and I imagine it will be addressed. We can't do anything about it now but we need to ensure we don't have another window like this one going forward.

Had never heard of the term before but I like the, "raises the floor" line I've seen a few times this summer. Think Ramsey would do that.

Id be far more confident in Ramsey than Longstaff or Willock.

I wouldn't be surprised if they got him and El Khannouss. Willock had 2 years left, they'll move him on next summer. 

 

Isak will likely leave and once they've got 2 strikers there should be some money to play with. Hope they get both.

I like Ramsey and I think he's misprofiled at Villa.

 

Injury record is a concern. 

 

A step above Willock with a ceiling higher than JL's imo about a long way to get there.

Interesting debate, I think. Currently I think most of us would accept raising the floor as much as we now seem like we might given how awful the window has been at times, but is it a failure not to add anyone who raises the ceiling?

 

Personally think the signings raise the floor and then Eddie works on them so that they raise the ceiling.

It's the type of signing i expected in CM before the window opened. Should be aiming higher if Isak is let go though.

We haven't had a massive ceiling raiser since summer 2023.

 

But tbh it's harder to raise the ceiling on Joelinton and even Murphy in terms of output than Longstaff or Dan Burn. No offence to either and Burn was my player of the season.

Ramsey would be ideal as a more positive option for home games bar the big six and away games against the bottom sides. Joelinton isn't always necessary in those kind of matches and is a detriment to our play at times, but has his value when you need to dig in a bit more or spoil.
