Great player to have through the academy, not one I'd want to spend £40m+ on

Plus has that attribute of not having a defined position, would be a good squad player but the first 11 still has holes

if there's any Villa player who could help us it'd be Konsa

I think he did... before the injuries.

His stats since the injuries suggest otherwise

I don't think he's ever suited Emery's system. He's not a natural fit. I agree that he's similar in profile to Willock. Ideal position is LCM of a midfield 3.

He can be shoehorned into AM or LW but it's a poor fit.

Agree it's hard to say what the injuries have done. Personally, I think he's a bad fit for Emery.

Ehh, without the fitness record maybe.

Gallagher is the perfect Howe player, I think you squeeze more % out of him in our system/squad.

Median level yeh Gallagher is better. But at their best I think Ramsey is better. I think Ramsey's ceiling was higher for sure.

Ramsey is a big risk aye.

We seemingly tried to be, and subsequently failed.

That was for strikers though. Probably the most difficult position to sort out. We got Ramsdale on loan and a relatively “cheap” CB, so I kind of thought we would go big on a CM for example. Not saying that we should spend for the sake of it. Still time I guess, but nothing is pointing towards us having a genuinely ambitious window.

I’d be sad to see him go, he’s one of us, but I dunno if I’d be glad to be the other side of the counter on this with 40m.

Also his foot injury (it keeps re-breaking) is a worry. He’s missed so much football.

He can’t really establish himself in the side under Emery, and he’s homegrown so money in the bank but I’ll still miss him.

If you just look at his stats you'd think he's a defensive player playing attacking midfield and is pretty invisible. Strange combination of supposed strengths like.

Is he not more of a centre mid? Would probably be better to compare with other centre mods rather than attacking mids and wingers

In retrospect it kind of feels like the club’s plan for the summer the whole time was to sell Isak, replace him with a top young striker, get a new starting RW, and fill out the squad otherwise. That changed when we got gazumped on most of our striker targets and I think that’s when we decided we didn’t want to sell Isak anymore, thus causing him to go on strike.

Definitely don’t think we learned that Isak wanted to leave for the first time when it got reported in the media. So while it’s true that we’ve had to reorient our summer on the fly, it might actually be in the opposite direction from what you would assume based on media reports.

For example, here's Joelinton compared to midfielders. If you look purely at the numbers rather than percentiles, a lot of Ramsey's numbers are actually quite decent compared to Big Joe

I don’t really like the idea of signing players and hoping Howe can turn them into world beaters. I think Howe can get the best of out some players but Ramsey is already coming from a team as good as us and with an elite manager.

What were Gordon's Fbref stats before he joined?

Those stats can be a decent guidance, but without the context of when, where and who they played for, its fairly irrelevant.
