As long as we've got Eddie we're gold. Assume this is ironic given Villas last couple of seasons?
Ketsbaia
Underwhelming transfer but adding depth feels great. It's been a long time.
Mazzy
He's played a lot in Villas pre season so you can only assume they planned on keeping hold of him and having him as a somewhat important part of their season. This weakens them and strengthens us, that's always a good thing. We're going to be way off the top 3/4 this season (in terms of points) so anything we can get over Villa, Spurs or Man Utd is massive. FWIW I think the top four will be Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Arsenal in that order. We need to do our best to get that 5th spot, but it'll be fucking difficult. Kid Icarus
Just realised that if this goes through then at some point we'll have Gordon Ramsey down the left hand side and Peter Drury will do something about what they're cooking. Michelin Starred machiavellians or some shite. Edited August 13, 2025 by Kid Icarus
Chinese Fans
I hope he won't be as annoying as Willock.

James
We may have pushed the button on this transfer because the plan is now to play Gordon up front which means more Joelinton LW

Tsunami
Looks like we’re taking a 40M punt on potential and fitness? He’s not been a player I’ve looked thinking he’d be a regular for us. Him and Willock in the same squad could be a race to the treatment room.

The Butcher
Rather have the lad from Leicester, but I guess we have to monitor him for a few years before we can sign him.

Howe knows Gordon is a stop gap striker at best
Sibierski
Really not sold on this deal. Theres enough injuries to make the deal more concerning too, all whilst the championship guy will move for less and be linked with £55m+ moves next summer. SUPERTOON
It’s a signing that will allow us to play plan A, and then continue to play it from the bench. Think he will be a star under Eddie.
Sibierski
I’m going to stick my tin foil hat on and say we’re expecting a serious bid to come in for one of Barnes or Gordon by end of window.

SUPERTOON
Fwiw, my best mate is a Villa fan so I watch a lot of their games. Think people are in for a surprise (in a good way) if we get this lad. He’s gutted he’s going as well.

Not entirely sure why this one is getting a bit of negativity, I think he's good now and will be very good in a couple of seasons. It's mostly down to his injury record. £40m for a player that's missed a lot of football last few years is a lot. I'm surprised we didn't have a look at Gallagher - he's a Howe player through and through.

I quite like this signing from what I’m seeing but I think the negativity is two fold 1. People prefer BEK and 2. His injury record
Paulinho
A ball carrying central midfielder who can also play on the left, hasn’t been in good form for two years, and is injury prone. Just what we were crying out for. Strengthening Villa’s position is just a bonus.
