Aye he wouldn't play Saturday presumably but I also wonder if Villa maybe don’t want a player who has been part of their preparations all week to go to the club that Villa have been preparing to play.

I doubt he’d be able to tell Eddie anything massively consequential but I’m sure they have the odd little plan here and there that they wouldn’t want us to know.

How bad must Villa be FFP wise if they sold their Woman's team for £50m and still need sales to comply / spend a little amount?!

They've held a 90% wage to revenue ratio over the last two seasons. That's tough to do even with CL football, liable to have their best assets raided as financially they're in dire straits.

For comparison, we're at 70% while Arsenal are at 50%

I would have thought there would be an agreement not to play him on Saturday tbh.

No need, he wont be played until February with how we integrate players

I guess they gambled quite a lot of money on that entire new attack that the loaned last season, and still missed out on CL.

Pretty much, but even with CL they were still in the heat.

Getting 70m for Duran only gave them a momentary breather.

Based on what?

Downie’s post. Plus The Athletic are saying he’s talking to Villa today and essentially has a decision to make, a contract is on the table for him.

If I was Villa, I would be dragging my heels so this doesn't get done until very very late on Friday, so there is absolutely no chance he plays on Saturday.

As has been said, Eddie rarely throws new signing straight in, even with a decent amount of training, never mind a day or two at best. Its not exactly a position were desperate in either (like a striker), so doubt he'd be involved even if he does end up signing this week.

Remember when Wood signed and he got the train over to Newcastle from Burnley

I emailed a headline to the Chronicle: “Howe To Get Wood, Kiwi Doesn’t Fly”.

I even said they could have it free of charge

But they never replied

I tried to sell them the headline "Three-o Walcott" when Theo Walcott turned thirty.
