Look at Tonali's minutes - it's a consistent string of 90's

Bruno G played every game getting an average 86.5 minutes

Not clear to me (at least) what you are comparing to... but Tonali did have a year off the season before and Bruno is the club captain and they do tend to spend a decent amount of time on the pitch...

Would Bruno's time on the pitch compare with the fake version at Man Utd or Arsenal's captain's minutes when fit?

Yeh the issue is replicating that + 10 CL games.

Tonali has had a nice long rest.  But Bruno definitely looks exhausted in games. Which makes him perform worse physically.

Tonali could be a Fernandes type minutes monster. But Bruno definitely needs timely rests.

Saying that, the best football Bruno's played was when for 3-4 months he was dragging our midfield almost single-handedly. With no breaks.

Bruno said he was knackered at the end of the season like, with a more congested fixture lost he's definitely going to need a break, and it would be nice if we didn't have to start him every game.

He’s gonna start every game lol

The point of limiting minutes isn't because an individual can't handle the workload. It's so you can manage that work load long term and keep them at peak performance for longer.

Because a player can play 90 mins all season doesn't mean that's the best thing for them.

Obviously this will change when we're likely going to have a minimum of 10 extra games. When it's one game a week, I don't think it's too much to expect.

Yeh he’s definitely starting 99% of games he’s available for.

But he needs earlier and more frequent subs. As will Tonali imo.

Ramsey is a great addition. But arm I don’t think Ramsey and Miley is enough.

We definitely need another, we can't rely on Willock and Ramsey will need to prove we can rely on him after such a bad injury run too.

I still think most teams these days (in any sport) will likely be extra cautious with managing players anyway because of how science based it's become. You can expect that from them just fine, I just think in most cases teams will seek to be giving them as much rest as they can.

Even if it's on average an extra 10 minutes a week, eventually it adds up over multiple seasons.

There were several points last season you could tell Bruno, Joelinton (and Isak) was running on E.

If Howe doesn’t trust his bench player - he’ll let lads walk around on E until the end or a key goal is conceded. He’s not one for fresh legs just for the sake of it.

Would have preffered El Khannous, cheaper and more exciting player.

Still possible. Not sure this is as done as being suggested last night. Just journos wanting traffic on the back off of Thiaw announcement.

Is that definitely over? Could be that we're still thinking of bringing him in too, I think we need to and that would set us up for years.

Think that was more down to great leadership. Seemed to drag him along. Definitely needs to be rotated more than we are able to currently as we lose our way without him regardless of his physical performance.

Listening to a Villa podcast recorded on Friday after Villa offered him a new deal. Only 5 mins in but the two guys are very happy he was offered a new deal with the stand out quote “Ramsey could be one of our best players if he gets to the level we know he can get to”

This is why I would’ve liked someone like Gallagher or Nmecha, the sort of players can play 90 minutes at a high pace 1/2 times a week all season.
