You have to be on the wind up, indulging in some festive tomfoolery. There can be no other explanation.

I like him, I think he offers us something unique. There's been an ongoing discussion for years now of our need for a "10", and the Ramsey profile is as close as we will get without having to shift systems entirely. He offers certain qualities we attribute to a 10 eg. comfortable in tight spaces, good with both feet, finds pockets of space between midfield and defence, good technical ability.

Just hope he can stay fit and keep building momentum and progressing.

I think you’re taking the piss. It might take weeks, it doesn’t take months. Hall and Livramento have had injury problems, they come back and it’s not months before they’re playing well.

Howe's literally just said in a presser today that he's pleased with the progress he's seeing from Ramsey since his injury.

Are you saying you know more than Howe ?

The injury has obviously impacted his start here, but his performances so far have still been largely similar to what he was dishing up at Villa in his previous two seasons, especially when he played more centrally for them. Flashes of looking a top player, large spells in matches of looking invisible.

That first half against Chelsea and his sub appearance against Liverpool need to be the norm, every week, for the full 90. He's getting a lot of praise for the Chelsea first half but to me that was just the kind of performance he should be delivering as an established PL midfielder, it wasn't extraordinary but it was definitely a lot better.

If he can produce that performance consistently I'll gladly hold my hands up and say I was wrong about him.

And he needs a run in the team to be able to deliver that. That's the first time he's started two games in a row for us if i'm not mistaken. Lets give him Man United and see how he does.

Ramsey will be similar to what he was at Villa. A useful squad player. Think people will be lying to themselves and be naive if they feel he will be a starter for us long term. He’ll be a CM we upgrade on quickly.

We are going to eventually have a bench that’s worth like £250m+, where the depth will be there be in terms of names, but the return for the value not so much. Like mentioned before, it should cement us as a top 8 side and maybe that is the medium goal right now that’s changed since the takeover because of the PSR stuff. We can’t fly into the elite, but what we need to do is ensure we’re best of the rest, stay consistent in that then push on as revenues naturally grow.

Will mean seeing a lot more players leaving though in same vein to Isak IMO. Because they likely would’ve been expecting different.

Looked at some stats and one thing that surprised me is Ramsey is second on the team in shot creating actions per 90 min (behind Bruno). He's first on the team in shot creating actions from live ball passes.

What's interesting about that list is Ramsey is the only one on it whose actions haven't resulted in a goal. That should mean positive regression is coming.

Quite a high bar, no? All players vary in performance over weeks and games. Consistently good performances and some goal involvements would be progression, I think.

I think calling him a 'useful squad player' at Villa is very unfair, he was unreal in the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons, he was unlucky with injury and then got pushed out of the team by a player who is currently keeping Jude Bellingham out of the England team (even then he still played a lot last season). I've not been impressed so far, though he has been better recently. I was very excited when we signed him as I remember how good he was in 21/22 and 22/23 so hoping he can get back to those heights. The midfield is crying out for someone to add some creativity to take some of the load off Bruno. I think his possible upside is very high, not sure he'll get there but he's got the potential to be really good for us.

And some of his metrics are better or equal to what they were in those seasons, except the goals/assists are nowhere to be found. If he can stay fit I could see opinions changing on him very quickly.
