The relevance of accuracy as a statistic really depends on other factors as well though. You're far more likely to be accurate if you're rarely playing progressive passes, or only playing them when it's a relatively safe option.

I take your point but it does state progressive passes in the graph.

Aye. This lad is not a progressive passer at all. He’s a safe passer so any progressive passes he makes will find his man. But he rarely tries them.

Jenas had the same issue. In fact Jenas had better physical attributes. Really solid technically.  But was so passive.  Rarely passed it forward.

Ramsey has ability too.

I still think he's a decent player. Our overall performance has been crap from the entire team affecting every individual. Confidence is shot across all positions.

If Howe tweaks his tactics and we actually try to play more aggressively, I think we'll see the better of him.

Right now, we our plan seem to be playing low block. Doesn't really suit him.

Yeah I know? It doesn't state how many of them the players on the list have attempted though.

If you've only played 10 progressive passes they're far more likely to be accurate than if you've played 200. Likewise, a "progressive pass" can still be safe, so it depends on what kind of progressive pass you were attempting.

Had a quick go at comparing them on DataMB where that graph is from for progressive passes:

Odour Guard 97.4

Ramsey 17.3

Surely they aren't per 90 stats. Why aren't they whole numbers, who knows?

Edit: they're percentiles, you fucking mug.

Thought he showed glimpses again today. Without seeing it back, my instinct when he lost the ball that time was that he was sold out by teammates not offering for it, and just got pincered by like three players. Other than that, he offered himself as an outball effectively and moved it forward. Recall one very slick pass through the lines to Barnes.

Confident he'll get there; pity for him that Joelinton is suddenly rolling back the years.

My view is unchanged, rather have Longstaff plus £30m to spend elsewhere and much lower wages, than Ramsey. Hope he proves me wrong in the next 12 months but thats my view at present.

I think he controlled the game a lot better than Tonali was (in that moment). I like him but suspect we’ll not see him at his very very best until next season.

Totally right about when he was robbed too 👍

Best half/performance for us by a distance. Our best player and arguably the best on the pitch that half.

Somehow seems much more comfortable in a 2 and more central. Showing for the ball a lot and happy to drive forward with it.

Not his game, I guess. But it would be good if he tried the odd longer pass or diagonal. Played a beauty over to Trippier for that cross where neither Wissa or Wolte fancied attacking it. So he has it in his locker.

Yeah he's been good. Good first touch, holds the ball well under pressure, finds litle pockets, has nice little bursts of acceleration/decceleration while maintaining control. Made an important defensive interception at the end too. We've kind of seen all those qualities before, just needs to find that extra bit of magic now.

Another game of nothing for me, he just does the same things Willock used to do for us, and Joe at least had a goal threat in him. it looked clear today we needed something with the ability to unlock teams with a pass or a run rather than another runner.

I thought he was brilliant in both halves. Would like to see him be a bit more purposeful near their box, though. They defended deep and in numbers a lot. But he was playing very safe most the while.

He played a lovely ball out to Trippier first half for that first time cross. He also did that reverse sort of slide rule pass in the second. So he has it in his locker. He just regularly takes the safe 5-10 yard option instead.

I’m hoping he might get some confidence from this game. I thought he was really good.

I thought he played well. Actually liked him on the occasions he dropped deep when we try and play out from the back. He's good at finding little pockets of space and holding the ball under pressure and moving it on, which is what you need there.

yea, just seems like he doesn't have the will to drive or try to score. Most likely a confidence issue though, his start has been difficult.

edit. was better today though, but I expected him to pop in with few goals.

So wrong, it was arguably his best game for us. Some great driving runs, one touch passes, dropped the shoulder and beat his man a few times, thought he had a very good game. I think some won’t be happy until they see goals.
