I think it's just we expected a more immediate impact rather than he's been 'bad' TBH.

He's been fine, he just hasn't played to his full capacity or managed to impact games as much as he would've liked.

You can see he has a lot of good attributes IMO, he'll be a good signing.

But, why? He's competing to get into a well established midfield 3 and there's usually an adjustment to working in Howe's system.

Unlike Elanga, at least he’s shown some technical ability on the ball and doesn’t lose possession nearly as much.

Needs a few games in the side now to see if he can kick on.

I’d like to see him play more central a more advanced. Like the 1 in a 4-2-1-3?

What exactly does this guy offer? Not seen much of him but for 40 million I’d expect a bit more?

The ‘not seen much of him’ sums it up, really.

From my perspective, it's less that I was expecting him to do more, and more that he's done exactly what I was expecting him to do so far.

My opinion on Ramsey prior to arriving was that he was inconsistent and prone to being invisible for long spells in games. His best form historically has been in a position where we're realistically never going to play him.

I felt we either needed a midfielder who could offer more creativity, or an outright DM, so was never really behind this signing from the get-go. That's not Ramsey's fault but I'm yet to be convinced that he's a good fit.

He was decent on Wednesday so hopefully he can prove me wrong long term, and maybe Howe has a different vision for us that will suddenly get the best out of him, but I don't see that one performance on Wednesday as being concrete evidence that everyone casting doubts on the signing is wrong.

Although I did say him and Elanga were going to be mint when I was drunk after the Liverpool game, so I am clearly an emotional mess when it comes to judging our players

Thats what it seemed like to me, Ramsey looked exciting (if you're Villa or England), but it never became something consistent. Then Rogers came, immediately took his position and decided games. But that's the rub, Rogers cost around 10-15 million. Considering how poor our U-21's and reserves are, if CIty are off-loading to Middlesboro for 1mil, don't know why we aren't in there, especially looking at Rogers raw attributes and mentality. He wouldn't have been too far off replacing Longstaff, stepping in for Willock, Joelinton. We don't take enough risks or look far forward enough in our transfer policy.

Forward planning left with Ashworth.

Also notable that Ramsey is very comfortable on the ball and technically sound. Plenty would have you believe that Howe isn't interested in players with those attributes.

So was Obertan. Ramsey doesn't do anything with it which is the problem.

Ramsey has been a decent signing, he's at least showing that he can control a football, tackle and has shown the odd glimpses of being able to do something in the final third. He'll get better

No he hasn't. But he can be. He's barely contributed at all.

Agreed. But by this we literally mean - can control a football and make simple passes right? that's the bar we are talking.

in Elanga's defence - at times he's looked great physically. Until Weds - we had seen nothing of Ramsey physically. Not burst passed a player. Nothing.

Still don't think he's shown that much technically. He does look like he can get beyond players though, so hopefully he will end up getting into goal scoring positions once he's up to speed. I just haven't seen that much to suggest he's press resistant like say Bruno is.

Just had a look at his record thus far, pretty decent but yet to show the potential he evidently had in the youth ranks. Maybe Howe can help him make the step up to full international level.

Middle name Decourcey… perhaps he needs a bit of Nookie.

Hmmm I thought his record was much better than that honestly. Obviously not full 90s but a goal record of almost 1 in 10 for what is an advanced midfielder isn't exactly promising

If that’s the bench mark for a decent signing, then Christ.

I expected a squad player and long term Willock replacement, and I think that’s what we’ve got. I still don’t think it’s a good use of £40m though. There was no reason to see him as someone that will make a big impact or replace Joelinton IMO.

There's a lot between absolutely shite, decent and world class.

Not on this forum, we measure those things in weeks.

I'll have his name on my shirt if he scores the winner tomorrow.

Much rather have Wolt Disney in that position, light years ahead of Ramsey regarding potential.

Faded a bit. But brilliant the first 35. Popping up all over. Even when outmuscled, he’d often still win it back.

Still looks to be lacking confidence with that final pass or decision. But if he keeps getting minutes. I’m confident it will come.
