It was rumoured at the beginning of our interest coming out that Wolves wanted £65 million for him.

I’ve said before but I don’t see why he couldn’t get 20 goals a season for us with the chances we create, his movement off the ball is top level.

I know people like the WOW factor in players, those individual brilliance goals and he doesn’t have that. However, he is productive and will pick us up a lot of points by being in the right place at the right time.

I was really against over paying for him but then I remembered we spent £20m on a keeper that will never play for us because needs must and at this point overpaying for a striker is needs must. We’ll just have to claw the money back from somewhere. We can’t play many more games without a striker.

Massive part of it obviously but we have still failed to replace Wilson which is indefensible.

But that's what we're trying to do?

The urgency to replace him has been caused by Isak going on strike. We could happily have taken this to deadline day to get the right man otherwise.

If we fail to replace him then fair enough, but it won't be helping us that clubs assume we've got £130m+ coming in.

Thanks for reminding me we sold Anderson for 15m and spent 40 replacing him

Trying to slowly yes. It's not as if this Isak thing happened yesterday. We are slow and this is a chronic issue across the club and we also limit ourselves to a limit ourselves to a very limited pool of players.

We don’t need a world class striker. What we do need is to make some decent chances.

2 games. 2 great performances (personal opinion… or 1 very good and 1 great) yet when you take a step back we’ve created very little either game.

The best chance we’ve had over two games two centre halves collided and it presented Elanga with it.

Very small sample size for a start  you can’t just ignore how many chances we create and goals we score under Howe since we’ve been here and then use these two games as some kind of yardstick.

The caveat also being we played half of the second game against the current champions with 10 men. The other game was at a decent enough Villa side. Where we usually come up short. Yet we controlled the game without creating much. Oh and we also have no recognised striker at the club.

Do you not think if we actually had a world class striker such as Isak (or Wissa/JSL/an actual striker, even) in the box for some of these crosses or cutbacks. Or a focal point to start attacks or make the runs you would expect in behind. We might have scored or created a bit more?

I doubt we were accounting for Isak, we should be in a position on paper where he's playing now, Osula and Gordon are the backup options, and we have time to pick between Wissa & Larsen. He's literally fucked up what on paper was an almost perfect window.

Basically feels like Chris Wood all over again. We were desperate for someone then and are now.

We are going to have to overpay for someone. Problem is, wait much longer and teams just won't sell as there is no time to replace anyone.

I think JSL would bring something different to Isak. Id still be dissapointed if we don't get Wissa. I think he would be great for us.

If it’s Chris wood all over again, I’d rather we went cheaper end with view of selling in 12 months.

Like if Sorloth was available for £25m, sign him for 12 months, then look to sell for £20m next summer after a 1 in 3 return. That type of signing.

If he carries on scoring goals one of the Cartel clubs will be in for him next summer, every transfer has a risk and looking at the progress he has made over the last season he is worth the risk.

Wolves have brought some great players to the league over the year so they obviously have some good scouting and the agents contacts so we need to take advantage of someone else's scouting for a change.

If we sign Strand Larsen, we'll get a fantastic guy who will fit perfectly into the playing group. Intelligent, well-spoken, extremely serious and not a dickhead.

Sadly we all thought that of Isak only a few weeks ago :undecided:

I just don’t understand all these failed bids for players. Obviously we’ve been in dialogue with clubs so we must have an idea of what sort of figure will get things done. How we then end up in a position to place so many official bids for them

to be publicly rejected doesn’t make sense to me. There’s clearly more at play than I understand - I just don’t get repeated low balling these teams’s valuations when we’re in such a tight position and everyone knows it.

You answered it, desperation. Wolves know it. They will have a figure in their head say its 60m, but they won't tell us, just keep saying not for sale to appease their fans with the rejected bids. We can only go up in increments of 5m in an attempt not to overpay.
