Celta Vigo must be raging seeing him go for 60m just a few weeks after selling him for 23m (I know it was an obligation)

I'm excited by this signing. At least he's proven to be a very good finisher in a poor Wolves team.

It's probably why Mitchell described our transfer strategy as not fit for purpose. I'm assuming he was talking from a PSR angle obviously. We aren't Wolves, we need players who are ready for CL football. We've generally done well in building up to now, but the last two summers have been poor, and the Wilson replacement saga has been abysmal.

The argument that Larsen and others are worth £60+m is all well and good, but the same argument means Isak should be around £175m. Not just because of the market but because spending £60m on players like JSL negates our profit.

We are now completely desperate. Larsen is a massive compromise for our “main” striker position, even though he’s being billed as the Wilson replacement. Any other rhetoric would have us completely up in arms.
I hope the money all geek gets his spreadsheet fired up for January!

Situations like this confuse me like. I'm sure it's not this simple but you'd think it would just be a case of "will you take £60m then? Same structure" wouldn't you?

We might need to save some face and restructure slightly.

This one is probably an easier sell to those who hold the purse strings. Annual cost of Wissa will likely be the same as this deal fwiw.

Yeah there's still high potential with this one to get your money back after a couple of years if he bangs the goals in.

Nah, this chap isn't going to ever worth what we pay for him. Nobody is paying this much for this skillset/age profile.

Might be able to break even on an account basis. Actually probably not.

Osula could have been the Wilson replacement if he had of either been loaned out to get game time or actually played for us to get game time. Quite obviously to avoid being rinsed you need a prospect pipeline that is functional, which includes getting the correct experience via playing football.

Be interesting to see what happens with Wissa, if Wolves accept an offer for JSL.

Will he agitate more to move before the window shuts, and/or will be go back for him?

Guess a lot depends on the Isak situation, though I'd argue neither JSL or Wissa are an Isak 'replacement' either.

Still hope we dig in on Isak though and hold our nerve, unless its a galactic offer (£150m+), which it won't be.

The issue wasn't Mitchell saying we could improve our scouting, it was him saying our current system wasn't fit for purpose in a blatant dig at the people at the club, when almost every player we'd signed had increased in value. We could have sold half of our squad and gotten the same kind of return you'd get at Brighton, only we were actually competing in the Champions League too.

I'm sure Howe would love an improved scouting network. I just don't think he wants a bunch of PSR flips, he wants players who fit his criteria who are here for the team. I think that's where they disagree.
