I have no idea who people are expecting to play instead of Trippier

Some kid from the reserves that lose every match?

Thats the reality we’ve left ourselves in.

Murphy was a shout pre match, but I assume that was tongue in cheek. He was dire.

Even these are highly questionable though, Murphy is a disaster waiting to happen and I don't think we have any knowledge that Thiaw is a good fullback.

I know you could argue that starting Trippier is so bad that any alternative is better.

I actually think it is. We are getting exposed as fuck with him playing.

He's been a legend, but eventually there's a time to call it.

Not sure how Culpable Howe is that he's still here/playing. That we won't hear about until his autobiography I expect.

Can we do an overhaul though?  Not sure, 3-4 quality additions would do it imo. GK, Full back, CM and another forward option

So we're going into next season with Pope as #1 or #2, 3 fullbacks to cover both positions, Elanga/Murphy/Barnes/Gordon as the wide players.

3-4 is no where near enough imo. Even if we have nobody of value leaves it's 2 GKs, 2 Full Backs, 1 Centre Back, 1 Centre Mid, 1 winger, 1 striker minimum to freshen out the squad.

Likelihood is we are also replacing at least 1 of Tonali and Tino and one of the Strikers, maybe Gordon as well

Yeah fair enough, I don't really disagree but also not surprised that a professional manager won't go that far.

The whole team is just severely lacking in any confidence or belief. We are so shit it's unbelievable.

We have regressed too much.

We should just write this season off and start again next season. Howe still deserves to stay.

I'd play Aaron Ramsdale ahead of Trippier at RB.

But ofcourse, what should have been done was to get in another defender in January. And on top of that calling Targett back from loan.

Eddie left himself in a bit of a pickle now that we didn't.

Shipping 3 goals at home to Brentford as a CL side man [emoji38]

They’re not even good. Which obviously makes x100 worse. Absolutely infuriating. Every single goal you saw coming and yet…

Was about to make the same point. They really weren’t that good.

NUFC of last season would’ve blitzed them.

Think the RB option is probably Miley but it’s all very mysterious as to when he’s due back. I’d be tempted to shuffle Thiaw out there and go with Burn and Botman as your two centre backs for the foreseeable. We won’t win another game all season if Trippier is at right back

They don't even have a fucking train station.

Hahahahaha!

Kew Bridge Train Station is about 100 yards from the GTech - which is closer than Trippier got to Ouattara all game.

While Brentford Train Station is about 1 mile away, and there are three Undergound stations with a 15 to 20 minute walk.

Why didn't you pick last season's team then?

I mean, winning 2-1 at SJP in April is the very definition of "blitzing".

(We'll not talk about your 4-2 defeat at the GTech 4 months previously, shall we?)

Genuinely didn’t think you were that good. Kudos for a decent season but you scored with a questionable pen, a worldie cross that any less than geriatric RB would’ve shut off and a winner on the break. Fair play. I just wasn’t that impressed by you and feel like if we were playing one game a week, like you are, we’d have battered you.

I do always like Lewis-Potter mind. He’s underrated imho.

Surely Leo Shahar needs to be given an opportunity. I see Howe going back to 3 centre backs though. Defend and counter attack.

                              Ramsdale
              Thiaw        Botman      Burn
Murphy    Bruno      Tonali    Ramsey      Hall
                       Elanga        Osula

Tbh you were quite poor, but our defence is so shit. From 45 mins to 85 it looked like one way traffic.

but congrats for great season

The other bloody frustrating thing about tonight (that just seems to have been glossed over) is I am fairly sure PGMOL will rule VAR should have intervened on the Brentford penalty. VAR judged it a non-deliberate handball, and as the rules stand you can’t give a non-deliberate handball if the arm is in to the body. If the VAR had given deliberate handball - judging Murphy was bringing his arm in to block the ball - then it would have been a penalty. But as VAR has interpreted (according to the PL Match Centre) it doesn’t meet the threshold for a penalty and they’ve got it wrong.

VAR checks every penalty anyway?
