1. That’s contrary to another poster here. The jury hasn’t out yet. Anyway, we can only guess.

2. Europe. Not ECL. I don’t believe the ownership doesn’t care about qualifying for the Europa League. It directly affects our coefficient and incoming sharing in the future.

3. I give up.

1. I'm not sure who the other poster is, but I'm telling you explicitly what the players have been told, directly from ownership. First hand information. Whether the owners are telling the players the truth, I don't know, but the players were all told post Brighton directly.

2. I'm no expert on the benefits of being in each competition, but isn't there a drawback in terms of squad-cost ratio from being in the Europa or Conference Leagues if we're trying to rebuild?

3. Ditto.

Let's never forgot these cunts were right at the front of the queue of dissenters to Masters when PIF were trying to rescue us from 14 years of Mike Ashley. Rolling over on Sunday and sending them into the bottom 3 with 2 games remaining for them would be pretty poetic.

That ship has sailed. They swept Newcastle this year.

They can pay higher wages and offer "London" to those who care about such things. They might have been shite on the pitch for a while, but they were an Arsenal gazumping away from having Eze last year too.

That stadium means they earn shitloads more than us even when they are fighting relegation and we are qualifying for the UCL.

If they stay up they will be able to blow us out of the water when it comes for competing for top signings.

This season is fucked anyway.

Might as well chuck this one because:

A) It'll give us an easier ride and less competition next season if Spuds go down

and

B)  It'd be really funny

1. PIF have 100% internally communicated that Howe is the man to lead the rebuild. This has been communicated to the players, directly from the ownership, too, so barring a massive change of heart, these last couple of games won’t change that.

2. It’s been clear for weeks that we won’t be qualifying for champions league, which is all the ownership really care about.

3. Probably the same way they’ve interpreted the form in general this season… not good enough, can’t be repeated, but plenty of mitigation that needs to be addressed in the summer.

What I’ve been told also.

I seriously can't understand anyone's logic who cares more about Spurs than Sunderland, finishing below them will be embarrassing given we have e been in to flight for years whilst they dropped to league 1.

Wouldn’t it still be embarrassing if you only finished a couple of points ahead of us though?

A bit of extra embarrassment is a small price to pay to get Spurs relegated. Get it done lads.

Our supporters mentality is as bad as the players when it comes to Sunderland. Still can't get my head round some fans would be happy for us to finish below Sunderland to see Spurs go down. Let's be honest every owner would try block other clubs from being successful, football is a business to them.

Nothing against West Ham but I hope we win comfortably and try to finish the season with some momentum.

In the grand scheme of things I couldn't care less about finishing above Sunderland. This NE top dogs shite only gets wheeled out on their rare occasion they are above us.

If it's a choice of finishing 12th, Mackems finishing 13th but Spurs staying up or ours and the Mackems positions being reversed and Spurs dropping down to the Championship I'd still rather the 2nd option due to it being a once in a lifetime event and being extremely funny.

Think that's where I am at, we don't deserve to finish above you so it'd feel like playing badly and stealing a late win with a deflected goal against a team we should have beaten comfortably anyway. You take it but it doesn't alleviate any worries.

It would bring less pleasure than it normally does which is very little beyond adding to the stats really whereas I can envisage smiling all summer about Spurs going down.

Spurs fans saying "its all on Newcastle", "totally reliant on Newcastle to help us out", "we just need Newcastle to show up", "it really is down to that Geordies game"

its a lot of pressure, but do enjoy that feeling

the fate, the very fate, of THFC...is in, my hands.

I honestly couldn’t give a shiny shite about finishing above Sunderland.

I remember the season we beat them 5-1 (yes we actually used to beat them) and chucking a 3-0 lead to West Brom on the last day which allowed the mackems to finish above us. They were jubilant, despite us beating them 5-1 the same season.

The only set of us that care about the much coveted, homemade NETD trophy is them lot.

They’ve deservedly beat us twice so us finishing above them on GD or something means naff all to me.

All in on relegating Spurs

If we get more points than them, we absolutely ‘deserve’ to finish above them.

Shouldn't even be a contest. They've overachieved we've underachieved, tend to think overachievers deserve to prevail when its as tight as this.

Like Bournemouth deserve Europe more than Chelsea

Seeing a cartel club flush would be something although I'd draw the line at throwing a game. Expecting the win with a return of a bit of badly needed composure

I can't want us to lose, I'm all in on putting on a good game and winning comfortably but if the worst were to happen then I would accept that fate with a wry smile that it does Spurs no favours. At this point in a crap season it matters not what happens and it doesn't even enter the conversation where we finish in regards to the morlocks.

It doesn’t work like that though.

It’s like a close boxing match that goes to points. You can’t just give the decision to the underdog because he’s done better than expected. You have to judge it as if they are two equals.

If we end up above them, you can still say they’ve had a ‘better’ season than us, but if they’ve got less points than us, they don’t ’deserve’ to be above us.

I voted not arsed. The season was over for us weeks ago.

Not that we were ever in real danger of going down. But I just hope we might see something a bit different now we’re mathematically safe. And not the usual shite we’ve been serving up most the season in the league.

Regardless of how much this means to our season - fuck all in reality - Howe desperately needs another win just to get everyone onside again for next season.
