You know how Tottenham have a retractable pitch? Could we have ours set up so we can either raise or lower it, so we're always attacking down hill.

We could make Leazes Terrace retractable after it’s been moved to the tennis courts brick by brick

What about Murrayfield? Not ideal obviously, but a nippy and funny train trip there and back, and no issues with people being locked out. Would also prefer to ignore Sunderland as the non-entities they are

Good shout

Gateshead stadium with temporary stands?

In fact just a temporary stadium built somewhere out the way for as little time as possible.

Likely we would just renovate/expand as far as we can behind the scenes until there is no other option but shutting down a stand at a time? Bit like anfield?

Always thought Kingston Park with an increase of capacity to 20 to 25k through temporary stands would be best option. Obviously it'll upset some who are locked out during any development.

They can just lock out season ticket holders, give 2500 to away fans and ballot the rest. That way it upsets everyone

Upgrade Gateshead up to minimum PL standards. Possibly 35k capacity. Play there. Tear down SJP. New SJP completed, lower down capacity at Gateshead but leave the upgraded facilities for them for future and other use.

Very surprised if the rail network could handle that to be honest, even then you’re talking about possible 2.5 hour journey if you factor in metro and trams either end. Coaches up the A1 would be shite as well. As much as I love Edinburgh I doubt that would be an option.

Problem is Gateshead really need a smaller stadium, probably 5000 would do.

Hate to think about 35000 coming into that one metro station pre/post match or the carnage getting in/out of Neilson Road outside the ground. Id imagine Northumbria Police would strongly oppose it.

Guess our only viable options would be as Sima said, temporary stadium on Leazes or even the Arena site depending on timeframes for future work there

Not to mention the extra £100+ per fan per match.

Can’t see a glass construction in the East Stand doing much for the acoustics of the old place, whatever they do with the Gallowgate needs to be fan orientated and aimed at preserving what little atmosphere is left. A mirror image of the current Leazes End would finish the atmosphere off inside St James for good.

Lancashire do this with the cricket - their temp stand is pretty big

Obviously from a business/money perspective the corporate offering will play a big part in any redevelopment (or a new stadium) but we absolutely 100% must have atmosphere at the forefront of any design.

It doesn't need to be a 65k bear pit, people who want to just sit and "enjoy the geeeeym" need somewhere to be, but there needs to be at least one kop/yellow wall style stand where an atmosphere can be generated and maintained.

We should offer to redevelop Gateshead Stadium into a modern athletics stadium with retractable seats for football/ athletic events. Should also design it so that any upper bowl can be “closed” when Gateshead play.

Two kops, one and each end then all the holiday makers and library sleepy folks on the sides.

Just ballot all the seats. I'm IN

Wouldn't want to help out Gateshead.

Similar to the time we seen Burnley stay up at our expense by giving them all that money for Wood, any and all improvements to Gateshead could see them overtake us.
