Jackie Broon
Any expansion proposal for the East Stand is also likely to need the purchase of all of the properties on the west side St. James Street and the demolition of at least part of the listed buildings in that street. That’s just to put the new foundations in so the club can have more events when no fixtures. The slope itself is not disappearing entirely I’ve been told. Tear down SJP and turn it into an actual nice park, and build the new ground further up. In this scenario couldn’t you just leave it as houses? They aren’t houses, they are student accommodation and apparently the interiors have been ripped out. You could redo the insides with period like features and have it as a boutique accommodation option for corporate fans. It’s easy enough building a student accommodation block where the Stack is (as part of a new permanent fanzone) that houses more students and can generate even more income for the club.
