Dr.Spaceman
Do people think we're going to be getting something like this if we redevelop like? It's 100% going to be more Spurs than Smog, regardless of whether it's symmetrical
AyeDubbleYoo
Obvs I want a cool design and good atmosphere, TBF. I just want maximum number of seats so I can get tickets.
NE27
Aviva styling could work like. Sharp taper down to a redesigned east stand and then back up to behemoth Gallowgate and Leazes. Make the Gallowgate a fuck off single tiered stand also

Tbf even the otherwise utterly bland White Hart Toiletseat has one end that's bigger than the other. Granted it would make less sense if you're deliberately building something brand new in a way that mimicks the conditions that have led to SJP's lack of continuity; it would be too obviously artificial. As the architect says, its lopsidedness has been largely dictated by what's been possible within its surroundings.
SteV
Yes, if you’re building a large stadium and you have one end significantly bigger than another for no apparent reason that would seem a bit odd. And probably a bit try hard.
Cookie1892
defo need to make the gallowgate a full wall of safe standing in my opinion
Joelintoon
Surely the talk of a singing section and the Gallowgate full wall of safe standing has to be in their thinking. Must include the corners also. If done right, it could be incredible.
Mikky
Defo love the Wall concept if you could add the corner right round the Strawberry section to it (if and when that upper corner is built)
Wandy
Yeah, I think if we do stay on the current site, and Leazes Terrace can't be moved, then we will end up with a design that looks like the Aviva. As long as the roof actually protects from the elements, goes all the way to the edge of the pitch perimeter, and is also designed to keep sound within the stadium it could look really special. r0cafella
The article sounds like click bait anyways, it sounds like Douglas rang them up for some quotes and populous used it as a marketing opportunity
Big Geordie
If St James goes for a total redesign (as White Hart Lane did) - where would we play in the meantime - mackemland?

NSG
The monstrosity at Darlington would be the only logical option. Edited November 1, 2023 by NSG

Lot of season ticket holders would end up very disappointed if that were the only option. And it would need major updating, as it's falling to bits from recent pics I've seen. Turnbull2000
Gonna support someone else if we get stuck with an asymmetrical stadium. Being a perfectionist, I'm sick of it now
Hovagod
What about Murrayfield? Not ideal obviously, but a nippy and funny train trip there and back, and no issues with people being locked out. Would also prefer to ignore Sunderland as the non-entities they are
TBG
You know how Tottenham have a retractable pitch? Could we have ours set up so we can either raise or lower it, so we're always attacking down hill.

We could make Leazes Terrace retractable after it’s been moved to the tennis courts brick by brick

NE27
Gateshead stadium with temporary stands? In fact just a temporary stadium built somewhere out the way for as little time as possible. Likely we would just renovate/expand as far as we can behind the scenes until there is no other option but shutting down a stand at a time? Bit like anfield?
