May 21st is going to be like going away on a family caravan holiday and you can hear your mam & dad shagging in the bedroom and your nana & granda are shagging on the sofa bed in the living room whilst you're wide awake in your sleeping bag in the single bedroom wishing you'd never been born

Didnt know he had that kind of wit in him. Fair play.
-
Start him, smash them up for 65-70mins and then bring Miley on to see it out
-
Bournemouth vs Villa game is huge for us. If Bournemouth can beat them then we should really finish above Villa regardless of the Chelsea game outcome.
-
Yeah, no point in an injection unless he's planning to play soon.

What's all this pish I'm hearing on here about wanting them lot to win so we can play them next season?! Get that idea so far to fuck. Utter woke nonsense. I wouldn't want these slugs to win a coin toss against Hitler, let alone be part of the worlds most prestigous league. Sure, we'll have the chance to smash them twice a season, but the battle lines have been redrawn since we were last in a league together. If we destroy them, they'd put it down to the differences in finance, they'd claim a narrow defeat as a moral victory such is the gulf between us, they'd be peacocking around after a draw and a defeat to them doesn't even bear thinking about. They can rot with the rest of the flotsam and jetsam in the lower leagues, masquerading as the 'big fish in the small pond' while they become less and less relevant to the rest of the football world. I take more pleasure in seeing them drop points against tin pot teams than I would seeing them get battered every week in the PL. I don't want them getting an iota of the prestige and riches that come with being a PL team, even if it was just for one season. They'd start considering themselves a 'PL calibre team'. They are nothing. They always have been nothing. They always will be nothing.

Pickford is only 31. There is nothing to say he's going to be England No1.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
Benwell Lad replied to Rich's topic in Football
Don't know if it's a rational concern, or just paranoia as a consequence of reading this thread too much, but I think, as organisations, Man Utd and Spurs would do anything they can to stall the progress of Newcastle's rise to the top. We will be seen as much more of a threat to their place at the top table than Villa and Forest would. -
Surely an injection is a short term fix to allow him to play. Looks like we are patching him up to launch at Chelsea on Sunday. Not sure how fit he his but surely a morale boost for the team.
-
I wouldn't swap Barnes for Ramsey however I'm very relaxed about letting players to who aren't Isak and Tonali. PSR demands sacrifices if your us or Villa as shit as it is.
-
Only silver lining is that one of these teams will lose and therefore have had a rotten season. I think Man U win. They have Amad back now who is always a threat, whereas Spurs have picked up a few more injuries. There is also the mental aspect, Man U just expect to win finals and will rise to the occasion, Spurs are like us pre-eddie and they are more likely to wilt under the light. Man U commercially are a monster as well so were less likely to be hurt financially by missing out on CL, their project with Amorim is going to take while and may still run into issues next year, even with a CL cash boost. Spurs on the other hand, with a boost of CL money and if they changed manager and had bit of luck with some better signings are not a million miles of being decent again, a lot of young potential in their squad. So I fear they would be a more likely contender to overtake us next season than Man U if they got CL.

Anyone saying we should replace Barnes with Ramsey is a Villa fan like
-
We're about to go into a Euro campaign, we're not selling anyone who's played a lot of first team football unless the offer is absolutely insane imo.
-
This game is huge, with them having Lavia and Caicedo in the middle we need the physicality of Joelinton I'm totally okay with the club going down the injection and get him out there route because of how important this game is
-
Ramsey for Willock would be one of the best upgrades we've ever done.
-
Having players like Barnes in depth is why we're talking first about finishing 3rd rather than 7th. We need more like him.
-
Would definitely take Ramsey to replace Willock. Not Barnes though.
-
If Spurs win we will never hear the end of Ange spouting his “winning something in second season” nonsense.
-
54 has covered most of it, but my post (which tgarve quoted) was about the Europa League being devalued as an honour in itself. That's what will happen if it's routinely considered a route to CL qualification first and a piece of silverware second. If the EL is going to contain fewer teams of really high quality, then there's a significant risk that the Premier League teams are going to dominate for years to come. To avoid that, those teams need to be less incentivised, which is why I suggested binning the CL carrot. Not because it isn't a reasonable reward. Ironically, having more teams qualify for the CL via the league campaign could actually assist with that disincentivising, as that year's respective EL entrants may already be in the race via the league method. Spurs and ManU have had maximum incentive in the EL this year because they've had nothing to play for domestically since September.

Swapping Barnes for Ramsey would be insane like.
-
Agreed. Can’t believe we’re still having this debate tbh. And 40million? For that level of goal involvement? Get out of here!
-
If he can run. He can play.
-
It's mad - seemingly the one area of the pitch we have genuine strength in depth and people want to sacrifice that. The suspension + injury of Gordon could have been a disaster if we didn't have Barnes to step in
