The Europeometerâ„¢ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
The Prophet replied to Rich's topic in Football
Aye, if we're going to remove all context, including Liverpool's form throughout that season. The point is that it ended up being a complete irrelevance because we did our job. I think everyone agrees we need at least 68 points on the board this sesson to be in with a good shout. It's by far the most important factor here, as opposed to what other teams could and should do. -
Their CL run is worth a lot.
-
Think he has the potential to do well in a less pressured environment and a team that doesn't ask too much of him technically.

Due to injuries and VVD not being right after his ACL mainly, but it was the experience and mentality of them knowing what needed to be done that made them very dangerous. They still ended up winning 7 and drawing 3 of the last 10 so we had to be on it. -
Not arsed myself, but my mam was looking forward to the Arse game and it's on Prime rather than TNT? WTAF. I can just about accept spreading the games during earlier stages, but demanding two subscriptions at the semi final? Fucking scandalous that like.

Makes me think of Yasser Arafat's headscarf, is that the idea?

I agree with your point on goalkeeping mentality being a major part of goalkeeping, and that coming with age. There’s any number of keepers that could be used to back-up that opinion, Pope being a prime example. However, I think Trafford is an elite (some not far from here might say generational…) talent, who’s ready now. He’s already been exposed to the PL, and although it didn’t go well, partly due to his own shortcomings and partly due to his teams style of play, he now knows exactly what to expect. If/when he comes in, I don’t doubt Eddie will make the correct noises about there not being a specific No.1, and he might even continue with Pope (if still here) for a bit, but he’ll just be waiting for the chance to get Trafford in, and once he does, that will be that.

Remember in 22\23 when people thought Liverpool would win circa ten games in a row? -
They are yet to be punished for breaches commited during the Previous owners regime. People seem to get a press pass because they self reported.
-
Chelsea being dodgy cunts again shocker. Some story about historical agent payments again.
-
If we spend 20 or 25m on him unfortunately he's not going to be a slow burn. Dubs may be off Pope is on a relatively short contract now so while he may not come in number 1 gairenteed he's going to start plenty of games.
-
I reckon Longstaff would probably do a McTominay and suddenly turn into a 10 goals from midfield type for a promoted team. Actually nah he'll probably be the equivalent of when Dan Gosling went to Bournemouth and was a regular for them for many years.
-
Never thought he'd leave this summer even if the elite wanted him. Think he knows he owes us a season extra. Beyond that, it's just like any other elite player. We'll do our best to keep him, he probably won't kick up a fuss to leave, but if Real Madrid, etc come in offering mega bucks to us and wages, he'll have a decision.
-
I'm hoping the James Trafford rumours are not with the intention to bring him in as a starter, rather as a back up for 1, 2 maybe even 3 years. Goalkeeping is a mentality game above all else, and it's why we see goalkeepers getting better with age and seldom do we see a young, early twenties top level goalkeeper. Their progression is very different to that of an outfield player. Trafford having a good season in the Championship at Burnley tells me almost nothing other than that he's a talented goalkeeper; mentality-wise, the step up to the premier league is big, the step up to being the number 1 at Newcastle United is absolutely enormous. I'd be concerned if he was our number 1 at this time.
-
Think somewhere between £15-20m would be a good fee for us and for Leeds.
-
But he can’t really close down very well, he’s not athletic.
-
Wasn't he linked with Everton in the past?
-
If we qualify for the CL I think we will be signing one or two.
