The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
The College Dropout replied to Rich's topic in Football
Give me: Bayern (a) Chelsea (h) Slavia Prague (a) Marseille (h) Villareal (h) Club Brugges (a) Union SG (a) Copenhagen (h) 19 points and straight into the last 16. 12 points would almost guarantee a play off round. -
The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Postecoglu told to rack off by Spurs

Dont think it matters much in regards to PSR if we buy now (after july) or in January.
-
If recency bias means the last two seasons then sure.
-
I think if we're realistic about it then we're going to have to shift a few big names for a few big fees if we're going to catch up. Everyone on here wants to keep on adding to the group and none of us want to see Isak or Tonali move on as we all enjoy watching them play. However, as we're seeing this summer PSR is allowing the clubs we're trying to catch to simply buy their way back into the picture and that's not something we can compete with. We've caught them up on the pitch but we've gone 3 windows without really strengthening and now we have the chance to spend and close the gap we find out the rest of them can match us. Don't want to lose Tino, I think he's class but IF we did shift him for a monstrous fee of £90m (or whatever, don't think he's worth that but no harm in asking for a number like that if we've accepted it's happening) then we could use every single penny of it and that would turbocharge our ability to get another 5 players of similar level. Spurs did it with Bale and Kane, Liverpool flipped Coutinho, Villa with Grealish, it's not unprecedented. We're getting to the point where our first raft of signings (Pope, Tripps, Burn etc) will also need to be replaced soon, this is on top of the shite that's still clogging the squad up. I'd hate it but we may need to bite the bullet eventually with our favourite players
-
Why do this? Now there are 50 posts wasted on merits. Use realistic transfer thread instead
-
Called it. I can totally see him signing a 6 year deal on mega bucks at Chelsea mind.
-
Grealish on loan? I think he could revive his form-career under Howe, and we could do something like half of his salary + 6-8m loan fee which covers his another half of salary for City. that way it doest blow our salaries within other players. wouldnt do a permanent deal as not sure how ambitious he is long term. feels a bit like he gave up after their treble win, like won it all, what else there is to fight for... but short term, in a WC year he might give his all...
-
Yeah ticks all the boxes also like that Lamine Camara at Monaco who would also fit well in our midfield 3.
-
This is recency bias. He's a better RB.
-
It’s the attitude off the field what counts most
-
Pretty impossible to avoid glamour ties from pot 1. Least glamorous imo would be psg and Dortmund due to recently playing them, and hardly bad trips!
-
We definitely need a new CM to replace Willock and Longstaff, but yeah it won't be this summer. Might get a youngster if our funds stretch that far, otherwise it'll probably be January.
-
One extra reason why need to fucking hurry up and sort out the CEO / DoF nonsense. Isak needs a new deal, Tino will want a new deal, Hall as you said too, then there will be others. It’s not getting players tied down early on that fucks clubs over in future summers.
-
People forgetting Chelsea signed Jorgensen for £20m and Maresca didn’t like him. Does Maresca even like Maignan? He’s been an exceptional keeper in past seasons, wobble this season gone. So will be jokes the recent season is his base moving forward and he’s throwing clangers in.
-
Tbf, there’s been some real questionable moments with our other two Brazilians where they could have got a ban, Joelintons clothesline from hell for example. I can’t say I recall a level headed Brazilian in the premier league apart from maybe Allison but he’s a GK. Part and parcel.
-
Aye you might be right tbh. I think we will IF we can get rid of Longstaff and Willock. But yeah, obviously not quite straightforward. Also wondering about potential Palace interest in Miley. I hope we don’t sell him though.
-
CM is getting more and more important for me. If Pedro joins we can sometimes change things up, but playing CL and PL with our key trio weekly is not sustainable. With Longstaff looking like leaving we need one anyway.
-
I am well on board with getting this transfer done, think he would be a brilliant signing and has room to grow even more, especially playing with the likes of Isak, Bruno, Tonali and Gordon. Only concern is his discipline, but who wouldn't want a pop at Van Hecke, the man is a tosser! The attempted elbow this season is the big concern for me, couldn't believe he didn't get a big ban for that. I would love to see Pedro and Madueke as our two attacking signings, although you are getting two potentially questionable attitudes through the door.

Little man syndrome. -
I agree that we need another cm, I just don’t think we’ll spend a giant chunk of our budget on a blue-chip one.
-
Eventually you need the 4th option that’s on par with the 3 we have - Longstaff and Willock offer us nothing and hopefully are sold to allow such purchases
-
The point was that Spurs would be unreasonable to deal with, as they always are as sellers, particularly if Newcastle showed interest, as they wouldn't be in a hurry to do us any kind of favour. Genius.
