Put it in perspective mate. We're a deflated, managerless team in a season that's going nowhere and with a team that is likely gonna be revamped entirely over the next year or so. To all intents and purposes, this match was meaningless as it was always gonna be a walk in the park. The 5-0 was a much hyped top of the table clash between the two best teams in the league at the time. The two don't even compare. Exactly - we hammered them 5-0 on their best day. They managed to hammer us on our worst, with the aid of some dubious Old Trafford officials to boot.

FFF president 'reassured' Houllier not moving to Tyneside
Spider Jerusalem replied to NSG's topic in Football
These are the guys he should have been looking at WELL BEFORE going to Portsmouth with the begging bowl. Good news indeed! -
I've got to agree unfortunately. The media have it into thier heads that is all that we want, and wanted last summer, have plenty of footage to show it to be true and have brodcast that 'fact' so much it must be true that any decent manager will not touch us with a fifty foot disinfected barge pole.

Did he not get an assist today?
-
Let's face it - paying them off will cos money. Letting them do jigsaws in a cupboard for the next four years, could at least made most of them leave by choice. This would have been a good option with Sam as well - 'Jigsaw Leave'

What the hell you goiung on about - all that I said was that the dirty, conniving diving little shit does not need to do it! But he still does. If anything the cheating that goes on within his game is covered up in the media due to who he plays for - his diving and conniving was only brought up by our media in the last World Cup for some reasion.

Exactly - I just watchehd the match in a pub, and stil felt ripped off. Mind, there were a fair few locals supporitng ManUre in there. Weren't event the local Mackems either. Glory hunting &*(%$$^$#s

Not if you watched THAT game live in 1986
-
Which one? A truly great player, but still had a lot of faults to his game in a personaitly trying to get somone sent off kind of way (Robert?) Would still beat him in a race to Geneva though if we both started now :parky:

A player as good as him shouldn't resort to be a cheating, diving, conniving little shit. But in the end he does. Still people in this country still remember Maradonna fondly so it only proves the cheats in the end will always prosper.

Nah that won't happen again - we scored a goal in that game. No matter what the score, I can see this one being the Sky 'Game of the Day' on Football First tonight.

As longs as I have watched football it has to be Gary Lineker. Top class goal poacher. If the ball was whipped across the face of the goal then you could almost guarantee the lad with the big nose and pudding basin haircut was going to be sliding in on the near post. Shearer had a patch of about two years where he didn't score for Enlgand prior to Euro 96 and Venables was under tremendous pressure from the media to drop him. Then he picked up the golden boot for the tournament. Funny how the press are still full of shit even after all these years.

Not If we get Derek Acora on the payroll. Just think, we could have a Brian Clough / Pope John Paul II management team, all for the price of one. The greatest english manager coupled with God's right hand man. Screw Mourinho - this is the one I want!!
-
Would Like - Houllier or Lippi Most Likely - Shearer or Jol End Up With - McClaren, Pearce or Pearson *EDIT* - whoever it is I at least hope they take a long hard look at the 'coaching' staff as well.

The type of shot that is normally called a conversion or field goal. As one of our more esteemed colleagues on this board would say, if we draw a decent team in the competition (if we don't get a 5-2 defeat in the replay) we will probably get 'bummed in the face'. Good to see that Sam thought that we controlled the game though - from my vantage point it looked as though we were barely capable of controlling the ball.
-
Out of our lot I would have had to say Nolberto Solano had a superb first touch - which he needed considering some of the wayward passing received from some of our donkeys in recent years.

Man Utd reject Newcastle bid for Wes Brown - SSN
Spider Jerusalem replied to WarrenBartonCentrePartin's topic in Football
Wouldn't get your hopes up - will probably just agent rumours trying to call Ferguson's bluff, or Brown will see the shower of shit options he's got after ManUre and panic and sign the contract on the table. -
Just watching it now on Sky. The commentary is unsurprisingly appalling. Made a big thing of Martins taking a dive in the area but had the gall to go on about Butt's 'foul' on the flouncy haired number 16 even through the replays were showing that he must have taken him down by invading his personal space. Linesman deserves an assist for the first, as well as helping to keep 22 men on the field. The ref must have been inspired by his linemans generosity a few minutes later when he failed to give Elano a red. The next couple of matches should be good for us though as it will all even itself out won't it? Even though we've got to play Man Ure and The Arse, where we've played 13 men for the past few years....
-
Hope not - we'll all be dead by 2011 (or two years earlier if I'm in charge)
-
I agree. It's fucking cheating. Keane does it all the time. I was always under the impression that it was a 'clean' run up and strike at goal.
-
Thank fuck for that. Can we not bring it forward to 2009.
-
I know, between being pissed and the Holywood writer's strike I don't know my arse from my elbow.
-
Constantly playing a very promising left winger at left back in a team with a with an appallingly poor defensive record will make them succeptable to a move to another, sucessful team.
-
Well that's the transfer budget gone then....... :parky:
