If theres one time I want Steven Taylor to play up to his local hero act its now.

I don't see how this could help our cause at all. Surely a buyer will see that we're losing every player we have with a good amount of quality. We're only making it harder for ourselves to get back up. What the fuck must Shearer think now when he's seen nearly all of the players he wanted to keep gone.

Great fucking news. We're probably gonna lose the last two defenders who really are a huge class above this league in Taylor and Enrique. We're gonna have to buy a whole fucking team just to stay up if we do manage to get back up. How they justify this sale I don't know.

I've heard from the most reliable of sources that there have been so many bad sources this summer that I might only use salt and vinegar from now on.

If he keeps it and we go back up then puts us back on the market next summer it will be a bigger disaster than this summer. He will whack his asking price up to a very unrealistic figure and it will go on all summer, not allowing us to sort out what will probably be a smallish squad filled with Championship standard players, one or two Premiership standard players and a few youngsters. If we think this summer is a disaster with us losing some of our best players and not being allowed to buy, then next will be even worse if we're in this situation again. At least our poor players we have been left with are good enough to compete or perform to a good standard in the Championship. We will be straight back down if we're not allowed to have an overhaul of the squad next summer. Stability is vital.

Wages though? If there is a taker and we could replace him with an experienced defender on much smaller wages it would make more sense to do that. If we do go back up then we will still be in the same situation of either having to replace Coloccini after paying him his huge wages for a whole season, or replacing the defender we brought in who we would have been paying smaller wages. I'm not doubting that Coloccini will be fine in this league, but he does seem a bit expensive when we could definitely get someone cheaper in who could do a just as effective or even better job in this division.

If we can get this takeover complete this week then that might give us time to get Campbell in (considering he is supposed to be signing without the takeover), and sell Coloccini if there are any takers and buy a suitable Championship experienced centre back next week.

I'd like Moat just for the fact that he is a Newcastle fan and has the club at heart, but I won't be gutted if somebody else buys the club. Anything as long as Ashley goes. Fucking hell thats quite a shock actually. I know he's only a young lad but he could certainly have signed for a Championship club at the least. He obviously likes Sven though after the opportunities he gave him when he was in charge and he's probably on a nice little wage.

Our defence wouldn't be too bad now if we got could keep what we have and managed to get in a centre back or two. Ideally Coloccini would leave with replacements brought in but its not gonna happen. I'd say we're well covered at full back now with Simpson, R.Taylor, Enrique and Kadar. Only problem is we're so short on numbers everywhere else.

Surely if we were actively seeking players we would have brought one or two others in this week. This Simpson signing indicates that he is going stright into the team with Taylor pushing foward. We've probably had him in mind for a while, but waiting for Jonas to leave rather than Duff.
