Very happy and very impressed. If thats the summer signings over then its been an excellent transfer window for us. If we manage to bring in a natural right back or left footed defender i'd be ecstatic.

I'm very happy with the blend of experience Allardyce is bringing in. So far he's signed a 21 year old, 24 year old, 26 year old, 27 year old, 28 year old and two 31 year olds. Roeder was saying he was only interested in signing players under 25 i think it was. He had his heart set on the likes of Gareth Bale and Curtis Davies, will dismissing the likes of Sol Campbell cos they were at the wrong side of their careers.

How tall is he?

Allardyce has impressed me beyond words this summer in the transfer market.

If we sign that other defender we might as well just keep Ramage for this season and loan out Edgar and Huntington. Ramage is never gonna be a quality defender and he won't get much out of going on loan. I've got high hopes of Edgar though so a season out on loan could be the making of him then we could fuck Ramage of next season. Huntington needs to improve 300% if he wants to make it at the top.

seriously though you bought jermaine jeenas for fucks sake. And spent 17million on darren bent. I would say Smith is at least 1/3 of the player Bent is, which removes any bragging rights you have. He may do well, you never know. 7 million on Jenas was a very good price considering what certain players are going for today. Bent was overpriced but i dont agree that Smith is 1/3rd of the player Bent is. And you're gonna win the league and Dawson is better than Woodgate.

It goes further back than Roeder.

If we did get a big name exciting player in it will probably be at the end of the window one the priorities are sorted.

Totally agree those two were the worst players tonight. At times Ramage couldn't even handle Dean Windass FFS. Them idiots who were in the news drove the wrong gingers out of Newcastle.

Personally i don't think we really need to replace Dyer, but if Allardyce thinks he needs another attacking player to come in then i'm fine by it. Smith won't get you many goals but he is a good player. An extra body won't do us any harm. Allardyce has his plans in his own mind for the way he wants our team to set up so if he does sign Smith then he obviously feels he needs him. I'm happy enough either way.

I've been waiting for this to happen for years. Very happy.

He seems a better all round player now the ball is being mostly played on the floor, his link up play with midfield has been excellent. I wonder if Owen was offered a new contract? tbh, I always thought his link up play was good on the deck, even last season. Don't really understand the stick he gets considering what he gives the team. If he was called Andy Carroll and came from Gateshead we'd probably have built a statue by now. Honestly, bored to death of that s****. That argument ONLY stands for Steven Taylor - who is a good player. Does anyone, anywhere, really think that Peter Ramage is anything more than Unibond League standard? Do you honestly think if it was Lee Clark doing what Martins does we'd be carping about his poor first touch? Ramage and Ameobi are both geordies How are they relevant to Martins? I might have quoted the wrong person. It was aimed at whoever brought up the point about Carroll and Clarkie not getting stick if they done what Martins gets stick for cos they're geordies. Well Ramage and Ameobi get plenty of stick for their faults.

He has quite clearly said there he is concentrating on defenders, and he hasn't sold any player for Smith to come in and replace. Because someone who knows Darren Fletcher has said Smith will sign in the next 2 days, as well as it being all over the local papers in Manchester? Just a guess. Its been all over the papers that we are selling Owen and Martins. If i said i knew Michael Owens cat and he told me he was signing for Liverpool would you take it as certain? Thing is with people on here, they like to believe the negative things just for a moan, but when something positive comes out they try and make a negative out of it just for another moan.

I don't believe it at all, and its not blind hope in keeping him. Why would we sell him when he is our only fit left winger and Dyer is on his way as well. He can't replace both of them in the space of a month when he's struggling to find the 3 defenders he wants as well.

Be interesting to see what he says. I think i'm gonna try and stay away from here until late tonight cos all of this speculation is fucking doing my head in. I've been calm throughout the whole summer, but this N'Zogbia stuff is really boiling my piss.
