That’s not what I’m saying. The rule used to be if there was a handball in the build up but the person who handles isnt the goalscorer then VAR can’t do anything, unless the onfield ref makes the call?

Asked this earlier and couldn’t see if anyone answered. But if the ref doesn’t give the handball and Joelinton isn’t the one who scores then VAR can’t act? Has that changed? It’s why Gordon’s goal vs Sheff Utd stood after Longstaffs handball.

Has the rule changed from if the assisting player is the one who has handballed it then it can’t be overturned? In terms of VAR overturning it? They keep talking about if it was accidental or not. My understanding was that if you aren’t the direct goalscorer and the ref doesn’t make the call on the pitch they can’t overturn it?
