This. All these people getting on their high horses over his wages really need to have a word with themselves. I don't blame Smith for one moment, every single one of us (apart from the liars) would admit to doing the same thing. It's the board to blame. Or more specifically the person who suggested we sign him. Smith's doing nothing wrong here. I'd applaud him if he left for less money, but to suggest it's something he should do is ridiculous when not one single person on here (Apart from the liars) would do that themselves.

Can't see the SOL burning down, I don't think they've discovered fire down there yet have they?
-
Or a pie eating contest. Would be a bit one-sided though, Ashley could just inhale the pies whole, foil wrapper and all.
-
Don't think we should sell for £1.5m. Harper's been a great servant but is starting to look past it, for me it should be a straight fight between Krul and Forster for the jersey next year. I can see Celtic's logic though. They're probably aware that Krul has now been capped by Holland so reckon we'll be favouring him next season, so Forster might want a move. 1 year left on his contract, could realistically expect to get him for that when they could figure he'll be unhappy staying with us when he thinks he'll be warming the bench.

By that logic we've got the best player in the world in Nile Ranger. Still confused at why we're looking at spunking £10m+ on a defensive midfielder. Baffling.
-
OK, I know very little about him but isn't he a defensive midfielder? Why are we after him? We've got Tiote, and I accept we need cover for him due to inevitable suspensions and ACON duties but aren't we talking about £10m+ here? That's a mighty fee for a position that we've already got a tremendous player playing in. Or do people think we're going to play 2 DMCs? I can't really see that myself. It might be a tactic in some games but not enough to make it practical having 2 top-class DMCs on the books.
-
1 - Tiote, for the moment as much as the goal 2 - Ben Arfa, goal from nothing, great movement and strike 3 - Shola, gets a load of stick and rightly so but to keep that ball down took a hell of a lot of doing, showed tremendous technique. Or got lucky. But it went in so he gets the vote.
-
We won't sign him, he doesn't know all the words to "La Marseillaise" or ride a pushbike with strings of onions round his neck.
-
Must keep Jonas. Simple as that. We're looking to bring pace and skill into our team, he's our only current player who has that. If we sold him, it's a step back in what we're looking to achieve with the team.
-
I don't want to take loans, unless there's a set deal to buy at the end (a la Ben Arfa). Otherwise we're just developing another team's player whilst paying his wages and probably sizeable a loan fee too. I'd love us to get Sturridge, I really would, but I'm dead against loan deals.
-
Just think, if someone told us last November that Hughton would be leading his team out into Europe next season we'd have all been bloody delighted! Now that's what's happening, but for a whole host of different reasons. Wish him all the best, hope he does well for Birmingham.
-
Plus he's never played professionally iirc, came straight in as a manager.

Transfer window doesnt officially open untill July 1st, thats why. The transfer window is open now. In France it doesnt offcially open untill July 1st. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_window We've managed to sign Cabaye from France though. Only to the same extent that we've signed Marveaux. He's agreed to join, signed the contract, held the shirt up, stood on the pitch, but his registration won't transfer to us until July 1st.
-
Can't recall Smith playing in Reading's 2005/6 team. Agree with the sentiment though.
-
But, as time goes by and nobody offers him a better deal, he's more likely to take whatever's on offer. Plus even if fit he might not play at Spurs, meaning he'll not get paid much. At Leeds, if fit he'll play for certain. Also it needn't be a pure "pay as you play", it could be a low basic with high incentives for appearances. Clubs would be fucking mental to pay someone with his history a high basic salary.
-
Bowyer's a hasbeen, Smith's a never-hasbeen and Woodgate's a crock. That said, I'd take Woodgate on a pay as you play deal or something massively incentivised towards appearances. He's a tremendous defender and at 30 he SHOULD still be at his peak.
-
Barton played well on the wing when he had Carroll's head to aim at. He has no pace, can't beat a man, no trickery up his sleeve. Once Carroll left, Barton's assists dried up. He can pick a good pass, but we need wingers with pace who can beat a man and offer a threat. If we play Barton on the wing next season, he'll be found out. That's 'wtf' I am on about.
-
Ferguson can't be relied on, he's too young and untried. Barton and Taylor should never be allowed anywhere near a wing position. That leaves Marveaux, Ben Arfa and Jonas. Ben Arfa prefers a number 10 role off a striker. That leaves Marveaux and Jonas. Looking a little bit thin on the ground, especially considering Marveaux's hamstring is made of blancmange. So personally I'd take N'Zogbia, or at least someone else who is proficeint and quick to play on the wing. We need another winger, a right back and a striker IMO. And if Jose goes we need a left back as well.
-
I too was gutted when we sold Kelly. I was 15 though so crying wasn't an option.
-
Vive la revolution!
-
Until his knee that's made out of popadoms decides to crumble to dust 30 minutes into the season...
-
He's like Messi and Garrincha combined, but French. He's an alcoholic midget with one leg shorter than the other? Sounds bad.
-
Yeah, Ginola was better than Robert but Ginola was completely 2 footed and could easily play on the right. Robert needs to be in that team. Shocked to see there's no place for our world cup winning striker though?
-
Striker Right winger 2 high quality acquisitions there and I'd be fucking ecstatic.
-
Well I sure as fuck wouldn't put him on the wing. In the middle is the only place I'd consider him. Though I'd probably prefer Ben Arfa in the middle and Jonas on the wing myself, but Barton in the middle would be pretty decent too.
