  1. He's certainly not saying in that we won't be spending
  2. My interpretation of this is we do have a limited spend in mind say under 50m to pick a figure out. We are monitoring and not rushing as there is usually more movement later in the window and if we spend our money now on tweaking the side or buying a backup and say a key member of the starting 11 gets injured we are then bringing summer spending forward limiting spending that window. An finally the budget needed for the summer is very much dependent on the rest of the season missing out or Europe, getting Europe and getting champions league massively changes the "plan" for the summer window.
  3. Not sure I am on the Bellingham hype train only seen the England performances to go on but remember similar comments about how amazing Sancho was/is/going to be before he got his move to man u
  4. Luckily the comments section on the video doesn't support the undertone I felt was in the video. Having a game plan, working together as one unit and knowing when to press and when to defend and when to attack is to me literally describing tactics. We also have an attractive style of play making us a good watch on the whole. Don't watch other teams and taking nothing away from Arsenal but from where we were last season to now is like night and day and deserves all the plaudits you can come up with.
  5. Didn't know where to put this and apologies if covered. Have enjoyed their solo deep dive pieces on us and in general but guess this is there podcast? Very poor from them who seem to suggest it's all just luck and not really showing any complex or anything tactically astute. I know I shouldn't be sensitive but feel should be credit where credit is due and its not a fluke or a ride your luck kind of form commentary like this just seems bitter.
  6. I still cannot see massive changes happenings, I believe targets/plans may change due to our position i.e. moving a potential summer signing to the Jan rather than waiting but not expecting more than 1 first team started to come in, better quality squad players would be appreciated though.
  7. Think it's more he's an Ashley era signing that has been around and been apart for a chunk of turd level results. Including looking not arsed for huge periods. Can forgive those that will look to see him leave as part of the clearing out and moving on situation we are in. Still he does a job and as long as he's happy being where he is as a squad player there are certainly other players I would rather go first.

    Joe Willock

I just wish we had the player that did what he does and scores, all for people who currently work for the system and work hard/are athletic are fantastic but have a "for now" hovering over them for me as we hopefully move on to players who do that and contribute to the goal tally.

Not saying your wrong not to want Europe but what I wouldn't want is say we get 6th this season and get Europe we do what we can in the windows and some players stay or come with the right attitude but did so over somewhere else because we also have Europe. The following season due to the lack of strength and depth through games or injuries we finish 8th/9th and get no Europe. Alot of the sides at the top are relying on Europe in some form every year. Now financially it may not bother us " doing a leeds" but from squad building and the type of players we have on the books it may.

On the face of it maybe privately the club would be saying where we are albeit deserved on merit is much higher than anticipated. We haven't finished developing the first 11 never mind the bench on match days. We no doubt wanted a few more transfer windows and season on season improvement (right now we are skipping a chunk of growing phase). Partly because no matter how savvy you are in the transfer market squad building costs money and it all can't be done due to FFP in a very short space of time. Like others have mentioned you get Europe you get your foot in the door for a certain bracket of player. In the same token we hope fighting on multiple competitions will be our "rivals" downfall we certainly don't want it to be ours next season. The faster we establish ourselves the better for me. I find it amazing how much even I thought we needed to spend to catch up to the top 6/7 due to how year on year they have been funded over our scrimping. Now it's a long season ahead and no doubt there will be instances before of sides being right up there and the fading away (hard to remember when you were in the relegation debate section of most conversations over the years) but right now I admit I search for us on YouTube to get snippets from podcasts, program segments etc just bigging us up and saying how well we are doing.

Certainly wasn't disagreeing with your overall point just see why people would disagree. Our form hasn't been just this season if you look at our form in isolation from the Jan onwards we have been right up there. Also I saw in the Wilson and bruno interviews there saying similar things to Howe one game at a time, keep feet on the ground. While your right we have a break to have a mini preseason get those out still or with knocks rested and back to full fitness. Also with most of the team compared to other sides staying home it gives a chance to further develop our style and partnerships. In the same token the break can be used by other teams to take stock etc especially those showing lack of form/consistency ie West ham, Liverpool etc and could lead to a much different level of competition up at the top.

Can see why some aren't sure as part of our form (argument how much) is momentum a break for WC can possibly disrupt that. Hard to know really.

I think the argument that our playing style will be counter acted is eventually true. If there was a sure fire method to success all clubs would implement it. The fact we haven't fully upgraded the starting 11 or wider squad and 2 of our on paper better players are still not in the side gives me hope the system can be even more fine tuned or Eddie with his time away from managing has a plan B. Particularly if we get even more players in he wants to implement his game plan rather than just working with what he has.
  14. Not sure if mentioned already not sure where to put. https://cryptonews.com/news/soccer-premier-league-lines-up-ps30-million-deal-with-sorare-nft-platform.htm Find it strange that players like their own image rights but the still images of players taken from games when they already sold the tv rights they will be captured from to those games could be sold as NFT's. What a strange time we live in.
  15. Question is when do and can we peddle him.
  16. Sometimes journalists make their statements appear gospel as some are good at constructing a point or good with words but regularly just offer personal opinion no different than a fan would. Made worse by rise of social media making someone with a following an "expert".
  17. The issue/argument made against us is that we have spent all this money in a short space of time and that correlates to the success we have had, this doesn't take into account the massive under investment while clubs around us and currently below us have had the benefit of decent spending window on window season on season. In fact its a miracle in my eyes that we are mixing it with the top 8 currently and beyond with only so little spent. Due to this I find it hard to compare and ultimately we have still had to do it wisely as we had strengthening needed all throughout the side and we still ultimately have players getting time that shouldn't be here anymore showing there is much more to be done . I am sure at the time of our take over pundits would say it would take many many years and 100's of millions just to catch up never mind over take. While its early days you cannot take away from the hard work that has been done with what we have.
  18. He's a 5/6 out of 10 most of the time he puts on the shirt. Happy to have him in the squad but we all need to keep this momentum and league positions going he is an upgrade area and should be a bench wamer no more.

It's not like this form is just this season weren't we right up there based on our second half of the season performances across quite a few metrics this was brought home when I saw this on the BBC

    Joe Willock

Where is the goal scorer in him gone, squad player due to his age and how much we forked out for him but look forward to the day he's keeping the bench warm and comes on to see a game out.

If we fade away or injuries finally bite us result wise I don't in anyway see that as a bad season or failure. We were a laughing stock of the league at the start of last season what a turn around of fortunes. If we finish top 10 we have progress top 8 sets a clear progression/target for the next season. Top 6 feels like a dream that was only possible on football manager or fifa up until very very recently.
  22. Don't remember much of him all game I guess that's the sign of an assured defender, still adapting to the league but certainly unphased by it all.
  23. Is this the player Rafa expected or is this his purple patch before moving on but being remembered as the player that proved Grealish wrong and contributed to a top 6/8 finish??
  24. Very snappy at times obviously young and trying his hardest to impress which can make you not look your best but he seems a prospect and want to see more of him........ before the squad is full of 40m+ players in all positions ?
  25. We are lucky or style of play/philosophy is not to sit back in years gone by IF we did get an early goal it was squeaky bum hold on for the 90.
