I keep hearing this, same for west ham, but allardyce f***ing hates us and is 10 times the manager carver is, and Pulis is also 10 times the manager carver is. Both teams are clearly better than us if only by virtue of the quality of their respective managers, I just can't see where people think we're going to beat them from Tend to agree - with scarce little individual brilliance to bail the side out it's difficult to see Carver avoiding the 11 game losing streak. Maybe if Sissoko and Janmaat are both on form one game we can nick a 1-0 or a 2-1 somewhere against a similarly uninspired side. I'd say we might manage a point with a late equaliser or getting a goal then hanging on for them to equalise late but that'll be the extent of it I imagine, we're certainly not going to beat anyone. You can look at a team sheet and say, yes they're the 10th best team in the league. But what they fail to grasp looking at us from 300 miles away, having only watch highlights all season (lowlights ammirite?) Is that we don't even try and if we are sat 10th by Christmas it's down tools, job done. "Look at the Geordies revolting again because they're not winning the league." It's so misinformed, prejudiced and cliché and these are the people other sports fans listen to. What's he said? Really like him on the guardian podcast.. He was just trying to play devils advocate really, most the comments he said were completely tongue in cheek. Evans completely gets what is going on though, really impressed by the way he spoke. The other journo, Sean Ingle, made a few points but he seemed to be of the opinion that we just needed to stop buying replica shirts and that 10th is 'about where we should be aiming for' We should be aiming for as high as we can get, if we finish 10th trying then everyone's happy. No, that's not true, it is for some but the best bosses I've worked for weren't like that at all. Tbf most of the upper management I've had issue with have been in retail, never had those problems in I.T. so it's probably just retail!

That's true to a degree but there's plenty of people who have made fortunes but still treated their staff with dignity and respect. You're right, I've had some decent upper management before, but they are the exception rather than the rule. I'm working with some good ones at the moment but it's only the 2nd time that's happened in 20 years of work.

Trouble is you don't get up the ladder without being a cunt and the higher you are, the cuntier you are. Ashley's at the very top of a successful business, work out what that means for yourself. I know I'll never be more than a manager because that's my level of cuntishness.
