  1. Remember it well. It was my 35th Birthday and the day before my son was born. We were winning 1-0 (Cabaye) and then Reading equalised with about 20 mins left. Pardews response was to take Cabaye off and replace him with Bigirimana. Reading went and scored again almost immediately after the substitution and we lost 2-1. Don't think I've ever been so annoyed at the match. Had a fight with the bloke in front of me cos he was defending Pardew and I ended up getting kicked out by the stewards and had my season ticket confiscated. In hindsight, probably should thank the guy. It was all downhill from there.
  2. That is so stupid. So what would've happened if one of last years finalist qualified for this one as well?
  3. Must've been tough for Rafa to manage a Chinese club while he was living rent free inside Steve Bruce's head.
  4. It really wouldn't be. It was full of sheep before pandemic. This is what the go to the game regardless crew had asked for and got what they deserve so can't complain really There'd be 40,000 suckers sitting in silence apart from a full time beeeew and blaming everyone but Geordie Hero Brewcie.
  5. Wish I had your optimism. Everyone can see this can’t go on any longer , he might make it to Wednesday . Any fuking pride and he’d resign.
  6. Ah, there we go. Last I heard (obviously years ago) was just over 100k, again good money, but peanuts for an MD of an operation like a Premier League club. Obviously Mike is appreciative that his patsy is so happy to take those bullets.
  7. Aren't the rumors he is on less than most League One MDs? If the figures thrown about here and on twitter are accurate, you can safely fell non irritated. It's good money yes, and more than he deserves as he isn't qualified to run South Shields, but hardly eye popping.
  8. Least Arsenal got a couple of goals and the assist for the winning goal in the FA Cup final out of it.
  9. They have any decent players? Not really. Ozan Kobak is a quality centre half and it's rumoured that Liverpool might go in for him in the transfer window but other than him not much. They'll be forced to sell as well. They're a basket case club and they have debts that are spiralling out of control. They literally had to beg their season ticket holders not to take a refund for games missed due to COVID as they couldn't afford to reimburse them. Quite sad really. They are traditionally Germanys 3rd biggest club and have 160,000 members, only Bayern have more. They have a 62k stadium that they sold out every week but they are certainties for relegation. They've gone something like 30 games without winning in the league, going back to last season. They are like us in a lot of ways in terms of size, fan base and lack of success - to the point i'm pretty sure Freddy Sheppard tried to establish a link between the clubs back in the 90s.
  10. Surprise you didn't try to paint this as a Top 3 moment in NUFC history.
  11. Not sure his impact would've been that great to move the needle - it would've been like Wynton Rufer's situation for New Zealand where he would only play once every two years. Everyone focuses on the surfing comment, but he did apparently reach out several times when he was young and the Federation didn't want a bar of him until he started winning League title and European Cups. What Australia needed was World Cup qualification for anyone to care. I spent 8 years in Melbourne as a kid and the only two times I heard about soccer was for an hour and a half at the MCG in 1998 and whenever Mark Bosnich was caught shoving something illicit up his nose.
  12. The total lack of self awareness in this post is delicious Never go full New Beginnings.
  13. This one? https://www.nufc.com/html/2004-05html/2005-04-30crystalpalace-h.html Deja vu from 2005 this: Stats That's now seven games since we last won in all competitions and in our last ten matches we've scored just six goals, with the Olympiakos home leg being the last time we registered more than one goal. Another gem from the same season, a game I was unfortunately at. We were horseshit under Souness! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/4130153.stm Can't think of a more depressing trio of players to include in the opening sentence of a match report.
  14. Considering your track record in the American Election thread, I am now 100% confident the Premier League is toast.
  15. Looks like that Leeds fan who knocked him out did some lasting damage if he thinks his opinion on a Newcastle Paraguayan midfielder in 2020 is relevant.
  16. Hopefully it was a career ender for that manager, would've hated for us to cross paths with him.
  17. Such a reach of a headline. Obviously they won't be slums in a smack riddled estate, but for 400k each on average they will hardly be gaudy mansions.
  18. Guessing that was around the time Parish said he would allow Real Madrid to talk to him
  19. John Terry seemed to purposely whore himself out to the limelight as Captain England, whereas Giggs kept a relative low profile in the second half of his career. The Anton Ferdinand incident also would play a part.
  20. It is just so bad. Like if it was "50 worst managerial stints" I guess you could make an argument that his final Italy stint belongs on that list - it was pretty dire, they should've lost to us (New Zealand) ffs - but using that logic you need to put Brian Clough (Leeds), Bobby Robson (Fulham) or Del Bosque in Turkey on there.
  21. Guessing Andy Carroll? Think Colback was called up but never actually played right after he signed for us.
  22. Sweetner for who? Why would Nice give us a Saint-Maximin for a good price because we spunked 40 million on a Hoffenheim player? Also, we had this fee agreed as far back as February. We didn't start hearing about ASM until May/June from memory.
  23. Most people who buy Premier League teams are. Being a nice person doesn't correlate to being a good owner.
