I love the work our recruitment team has done post-takeover overall, but I have to say I think finding a superior player to Gordon for LW would be very difficult indeed. He belongs with Bruno and Isak as players we should be looking to keep if it is any way possible to do so

I agree with that, but to me it's actually something more fundamental - the suggestion to me seems to imply a level of forethought to the clause and Bruno potentially leaving on the part of the club. I find it difficult to imagine a formulated transfer strategy which has losing Bruno at the centre of it that isn't sub-optimal, in my mind. I would sooner have spent less last summer, or sold others, before doing so (barring circumstances like Bruno himself pushing for a move - and of course we don't know all the details regarding the insertion of the clause in the first place or if there were any further stipulations). I think he should serve as the centrepoint of everything we are trying to build.

I hope that isn't the case as it would seriously call their judgement into question.

He has, the hope would have to be that Howe could enable him to rediscover the kind of form he showed under Ancelotti. A little bit like Rondon was transformed under Rafa after years labouring under Pulis et al at WBA. Seems like a big risk though for any kind of major fee, especially with our financial limits this summer.

His injury record is a worry but he is quite considerably an inferior player to Wilson irrespective of that.

I'm the same, especially when we actually have a squad built around togetherness and character, something that we can be proud of and identify with. It isn't something that should be taken for granted by fans.

Poor from what I've seen. None of the Burnley keepers acquitted themselves particularly well on that front

I had been won over recently to the benefit of competing in Europe next year simply for the benefit of acclimating further to 2x games a week and of course the chance to win a trophy. What I would say though is that this does give a definite opportunity to focus squarely on the league and hopefully get ourselves looking towards the CL places and upwards. That is where the ambition of the club lies and achieving that as soon as is possible gives us the best chance of building momentum more quickly + keeping the likes of Bruno and Isak.

I rate our recruitment team highly, but I think if you have that much confidence that Bruno can be so easily replaced then you are guilty of seriously underrating him.

It's more that there is one very good reason to look to sell him - to generate enough funds to allow us to keep Bruno and Isak while remaining within FFP limits and strengthening the squad
