  1. If he crashes out the cups and loses the derby he has to go, the next day. As Newcastle manager you cannot let Sunderland do the double over you.
  2. Thought I was watching a 40 year old Jermaine Defoe in Soccer Aid not a 60m striker
  3. Just play the same line up and hopes something works. Just keep it the same for the next few years. No point dreaming bigger.
  4. This is the exact sort of thinking Howe has unfortunately and why we are fucked.
  5. Would love us to go and get Wharton if we have to sell Tonali in the summer.
  6. The cheek to get his agent to offer him to Arsenal after we stood by him during a year long gambling ban Fuming.
  7. I like Howe as a man and a manager but whoever thinks Elanga is worth £60m should be immediately sacked on the spot
  8. Our Marco Reus. What a player.
  9. For me he is more of an 11, with Wissa playing 9.
  10. What’s more concerning is he basically admitted he doesn’t have a Plan B and the players just need to execute Plan A better.
  11. Howe has achieved a lot but he’s never once in his career used a system that plays technical, possession based football with creative players that can beat the low block of lower quality teams. Now we are the higher quality team this type of manager is required. I was hoping Howe could still be this manager and he could adapt his style as he moved up the league, as we moved up into the upper echelons. But I am slowly coming to the realisation that athletic counter attacking team is the only way he can play or the only way he thinks works. He wouldn’t have a clue what to do with a David Silva and Bernardo Silva and they would likely be dropped over a 38 game season for not being tall enough or not covering enough grass. He wants runners first and foremost to suit his system but his system is unwinding as other managers work out the perfect counters. Unfortunately I just don’t think he can take us to the next level long term. In the best case scenario he may scrape us 5th with good cup runs every other season. This would be great for me but does it really align with the clubs ambitions and what we are selling the players to be a truly elite club? I think the club have a huge decision to make in the Summer with this season likely a write off save for a cup run. It may be time for the project to go in a different direction.
  12. Did he really say if we won the game people wouldn’t be complaining? Well duh.
  13. 1 in 23 away games. Even Pards did better than that.
  14. What evidence do you have that Conte and Mourinho think the job is beneath them?
  15. Think he’s taken us as far as he can now. It’s all gone stale and we are going backwards with no new ideas. Keep until the end of the season but in the meantime line up a top CL level manager.
  16. We have just had a newly promoted Sunderland side who managed to build their whole squad for the price of our 3 new signings bully us off the pitch and people are still talking about competing on all fronts.
  17. Lol he’s already had a full season. How many seasons will it take for him to adapt?
  18. Looks like a rabbit in the headlights every time he gets the ball. He will either try to get rid of it like a hot potato or run out of play with it rather go for the jugular.
  19. Arguably man of the match tonight with some important saves. What’s the criticism about?
  20. You don’t have the authority to award that!
  21. Lose the most points from winning positions this season but we are not allowed to mention it on this sub according to some. Pathetic stuff really. Anyway good performance but Eddie needs to learn to use subs to help the team keep energy levels high.
  22. The clubs transfer policy was poor in the summer but Eddie is paid handsomely to get the best out of the players at his disposal. He needs a rocket up his arse and a system change away from home otherwise things will only get worse and he will likely be gone by the end of January. I don’t have as much faith as others, not because I don’t believe Howe is a good manager but this isn’t FM or FIFA where you can just change system over night. How many top flight managers do you know who can regularly change systems and be successful? They tend to become an expert at one system and dine out on that until it becomes ineffective and they are sacked. It’s why most managers only last a few years at best. Maybe only the likes of Pep who has billions to spend can make such system changes.
  23. If you listen to his after game comments it’s easy to see Howe’s issue. He’s bought into the physicality and set piece meta. When asked why he didn’t sub off Dan Burn earlier he said something about impacting the team’s height, which would leave the defence susceptible to Brentford’s long throws and set pieces. He didn’t seem to fathom that, in any case, we were getting destroyed due to lack of pace at LB. What’s the point if you would concede another way anyway? He also said Joelinton’s duel winning ability against Brentford’s physicality was a huge miss… He’s going full Dyche.
  24. Am I the only who was confused why Kraft got brought off? He was bad but I thought Dan Burn was a lot worse especially as we needed two goals in the second half. Seemed to me Howe didn’t want to take off his golden boy Burn. Why put Hall on the bench if you have no intention of bringing him on? I’d rather see Alex Murphy get 45. Atleast he may attempt an overlap and drag a defender with him.
