    NUFC Transfer Rumours

"What dance? Oh, to Remy. I just felt he was trying too hard. He had a lot of publicity last week and I just felt he was kind of tense. He had a couple of great situations for us in which he didn't deliver and that's not like him. So I was just trying to get him to play with a smile, that is all." (Q: Did it work?) "Well, apparently not, no.”
  2. Hadn’t Spurs already qualified though? If so, then the story from tonight would be Rangers also managing to do so.
  3. Try emailing [email protected] Not strictly there to help with this kind of stuff, but you never know.

I don’t disagree with the sentiment, but you do realise that hoping for ‘pay on the day’ in the modern PL world, is as likely as, well, something very unlikely.

    Matt Targett

Douglas was overall in charge. Not sure they’ve really replaced him since he left? Ryder has always reported exclusively on NUFC. And for all his (crayon-related) faults, he seems to literally never miss a single match.

    Or someone’s getting a whopper of a new contract…

But is that not to do with the change in atmosphere’s generally? If you look at the Match Atmosphere thread, people (probably justifiably) are forever romanticising of the atmosphere in the 90’s and before, in comparison to that of today. As it is, I think it’s almost impossible to ‘improve’ atmosphere whilst also substantially increasing capacity. I can’t really think of a stadium in Europe that has a capacity of 60k+ where the atmosphere is consistently rocking. Somewhere like Dortmund is often very visually impressive, but is it really consistently loud? If, as seems the likely direction of travel, we end up with a new stadium, the best we can probably hope for is that they make a genuine effort to incorporate the (seemingly obvious) things that will at least give us some kind of a chance of cultivating some atmosphere - getting like minded folk together, large areas of safe standing in multiple parts of the ground etc etc The easiest time to do all of that is when you have a blank canvas, once people ‘have a seat’, it becomes far more messy.

    Sean Longstaff

Need to remember he’s only got 18 months left on his contract. His value is already depreciating.
  9. I’m not sure how anyone can be that detached from reality?? Even a cursory investigation in to what it might go up to would surely tell you it’s going to be a very substantial rise?

Think it might be £5.20. It’s £11.65 for one of them and a pint of Madri anyway.
  11. They’re bang in trouble if they haven’t managed to substantially reduce their wages to turnover ratio this season.

Indeed, so like I say he’s more likely to be a Hall than a Bruno. That’s not not to say he might not have been a great signing but everything’s about weighing the risk of what you’re getting against the impact of your PSR position. Clearly we decided that short-term it wasn’t worth it (although possibly all mute anyway if Man City were always sniffing around).

What you have to ask yourself is, do you think someone like this Brazilian kid would have enough of an immediate impact between now and the end of the season to justify weakening our summer position in return for that impact? Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn’t - I’d be inclined to lean towards the latter - so they decided not to pull the trigger. However, I don’t doubt if something happened to Isak, or someone we felt confident would have an immediate impact became available, we could slap £30m down tomorrow.
  14. They still look seriously susceptible away from home like. Not sure the new signings will put an immediate fix to that. Have to admit they do look much better at home though. Which doesn’t bode well for a couple of weeks time.

    The Other 18

According to that chart I posted yesterday, their wages to turnover ratio last season was 96%, so they’re going to be massively hamstrung by that unless they’ve been able to significantly reduce it.
  16. Fair enough. Obviously not quite the same blatant tactics as TalkSport, but the principle is the same I suppose. And no doubt it won’t do O’Hara’s brand any harm.
  17. *disclaimer I haven’t heard it yet* That’s TalkSport though, that’s the modus operandi. Whether positive or negative, just make sure it’s OTT and will attract attention/views. He may well have made some absolutely valid points, but I guarantee it will be whacked up on SM along the lines of ‘Listen to O’Hara’s EPIC rant on Ange Postecoglou’, it will get loads of interactions, and he will have done his job regardless of how appropriate and well made his points are.
  18. Hope they’re prepared to pay world class money…
  19. Will be balanced out to a degree by Gordon’s new contract.
  20. Managed to get our wages to turnover ratio down a bit looking at this (looks grim for Villa without knowing any context):
