  7. Engage bullshit radar (especially given source)… “Sven Botman has once again rejected the advances of Newcastle United as he has his heart set on a move to AC Milan, a report claims. This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) makes the stance of the parties very clear. Both Milan and Newcastle strongly want Botman but they player only wants the Rossoneri, while Lille are instead pushing to make him accept the proposal of the Premier League club.” https://sempremilan.com/botman-rejects-newcastle-united-lille-milan

  12. Don’t know how reliable this source is, but… “ Newcastle United’s move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby is ‘pretty much dead in the water’, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor. The Magpies were reportedly contemplating trying to sign the highly-rated 22-year-old this summer before being put off by his £60 million price tag.” https://www.givemesport.com/88021582-newcastle-move-for-48k-a-week-frenchman-dead-in-the-water-at-st-james-park
  13. From a ‘Tier 1 ‘ source ( whatever that means…). ” There’s news just breaking from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano that agreement between Newcastle, Reims, and his agents for the transfer of Hugo Ekitike is getting very very close. It’s so close that it seems safe [whiffy… tier 5 speak] for the 19-year-old to fly to Newcastle to have his medical and sign along the bottom line, and that could happen in the next few hours, according to Romano.” https://www.nufcblog.com/2022/06/14/hugo-ekitike-ready-to-fly-to-england-in-next-few-hours-for-medical/

  20. I wouldn’t rule out other motives. The super rich need stimulation and leisure activities like everyone else. The profile of Premier League football, the visible challenge of building success, the vicarious glory—and inherent excitement—of doing so, the business acumen required to navigate that path, are possible motivating factors I would imagine may play a part. Perhaps as much as, if not more than, any perceived re-focusing/softening of the external perception of the nation of origin of the investors. Maybe, as far as we know, these are the most important factors. Which I guess are no different to the aspirations of most super rich owners of sports clubs.
