It won't show up in the stats but his off the ball defensive work was insane, probably the best covering/tracking/cutting off passing lanes/pressuring performance I've seen in a Newcastle shirt. Coupled with Big Joe and Bruno it was the perfect assortment to deal with their midfield. He was pretty spiffy on the ball too when he fancied stretching his legs past Van Dick or Gravenberk. It doesn't get much better for the role he was tasked with.
