FWIW the best football Chelsea have played by far came under Ancelotti, who also won them the double in his first season - which Mourinho hasn't managed in 6 attempts.

I agree, but we are talking about Mourinho and what he is to Chelsea. He deserves the benefit of the doubt and doesn't deserve the sack given what he has achieved.

Btw, Duff and Robben wide and Drogba up top with Lampard, Cole and Makalele were frighteningly good for Chelsea, they weren't like us under KK or Arsenal under Wenger, but they played some super stuff at times and were very very good at attacking and scoring and creating.

Abramovic is quite clearly the best thing that happened to Chelsea, not Mourinho. Ancelotti, Hiddink, Benitez, Di Matteo all won trophies. Avram Grant got them to a CL final FFS. It's basically a free shot at all the major trophies for any manager who gets the job, followed by a nice cushy pay off.

He did ? Who ?

Terry and possibly... most of the squad http://www.theguardian.com/football/2007/sep/23/newsstory.chelsea

"I thought Mourinho was practically untouchable, but a lot of players had complained about him, notably John Terry," Makelele wrote.  "So why take such a risk? Because he'd had enough and was looking for a way out?

Terry got his lawyer's involved with these "allegations" but I don't doubt they're true.

I used to think - Mourinho is probably one of the best league managers ever. His cup exploits are good but not amazing. He's had clubs that might've been able to dominate a CL campaign but has never managed it. The CL's he's won (all credit given) they've had to defend with their lives in at least 1 tie and had to make their own luck.

But he's looking at 2 league titles in 6 years.

And he builds boring teams. His best side was RM and Ancelotti came in and immediately made it far more entertaining. Not making a CL final with them or Chelsea (so far) is another blight on his career.

I don't like him.

Absolute rubbish. The best football they played was easily when Robben was at his best and then after that it was under Hiddink. You and Ancelotti man.

Nah, Ronaldo is spot on. Ancelotti's Chelsea absolutely obliterated the league, scoring 103 goals and battering teams left right and centre. Compare that to Mourinho's first two seasons where they scored 72 and 73.

It's partly cause the players can't be themselves on the pitch, especially the flair players. In games they have to work like dogs and over time that erodes morale. Hazard is the classic example he's always having to run back for every little thing - they are just sick of it all. Over organised. Players have started to drop off. That Brazilian kid came as a forward/winger...Where does he come on? Left back. /Pardesque

There was a little period last year when they were killing teams and I can't really remember why that was?

We're talking about when they played their best football. For me it was when they first got Robben and then under Hiddink. It's not a defence of Mourinho either, his teams are absolutely awful to watch, but imo they were best to watch during those two periods.

Thing is Mourinho's teams probably could have run wild but he's absolutely obsessed with declaring at 2-0 or as early as possible and killing the game by being snide.

That really, really pisses me off.  So needlessly negative but then again he went years without losing a home game before recently being worked out.  Their nosedive has been incredible like, it really has.  When you look at their squad, they're vastly underperforming.  The stuff with the medic seems like the beginning of the end.

Absolute rubbish? They played amazing football. Brilliant to watch and still more goals than any other team have managed in a PL season, even when the format was 46 games. You need to calm your act and smarten up, KI.

Edit: Sewelly knows.

Fears gone, like Man Utd under Moyes. Definitely a huge factor. Stops "big clubs" playing shite and getting away with it as the rest go after them and create chances.

Robben was great to watch which is true but overall Ancelotti's team was way more entertaining
