this club is a f***ing nightmare

I reckon ashley is going to get beaten to a pulp if he takes us into administration!

I'm actually surprised theres not been any kind of protest outside SJP this pre-season, the whole club is being destroyed before our eyes and nothing is being done about it

The whole thing doesn't make any sense. From Ashley buying the club in the first place all the way through to his running it into the ground now.

I wonder how the media would be reacting if the people who bought Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool had done the same sort of thing to them that Ashley has done to us. It's funny how Mike Ashley is a 'fit and proper person' by the Premier League ownership rules but we'd have been better off if a Taiwanese dictator had bought us!

Huh? We are one of the most talked about teams pre-season, i don't get your point at all.

My point was, had the owners of Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool done to them what Mike Ashley has done to NUFC the media would have made a big noise about it demanding that it be sorted out as 'these fine institutions were being destroyed'. When it comes to Newcastle they tend to sit back and watch.

It's not the populous of the city of Newcastle that makes the supporter base so large it's the geographical area that it sits upon. The urban development of Tyne and Wear along with one of England's largest counties. The catchment area is huge bigger than any other club. Although there are huge areas in Northumberland that are sparsely populated there are still a considerable population who's "natural" allegiance is to NUFC. The area of that size will always be served with a football team.

Think if he stays and has on purpose tried to drive this club downward then what is required is to hit him where it hurts by simply boycotting every game until he leaves or puts us into administration.

Stop direct debits don't buy from the club shop, everything!

Lets face facts we won't be seeing any new faces anytime soon so are that current crop even worth supporting?  Nah fuck em!

He wants to leave, he's made that clear, he's trying to sell.

All any pointless boycotts are going to do is damage our club and make the situation worse, not to mention give the fuckers in the media more ammunition to ridicule Newcastle Utd.

He says he does but he's holding out trying to play hardball which will totally put any prospective buyer off.

How can the situation get any worse than it is now?

If he really is willing to drive the club to the ground to get back at the fans, perhaps he's trying to drive the players careers to the ground as well. If this happens, I can see the football league stepping in against him somehow

How do you know that?

Tongue-in-cheek yes, but I can't understand why anyone still believes anything the lying fuckers say.

It goes against the grain, but I think there's something in totally boycotting everything NUFC at the moment. It may damage the club short term, but it just might be the quickest way to get rid of Ashley.

A total boycott would bring the situation to a head quickly, and we could then lance the boil that is Fat Mike Ashley. Any volunteers for that job?

NUFC is the only club in one of Britain's largest metropolitan centers with one of the finest stadia in Europe. We can only fall so far. I'd wager the lower limit would be somewhere around League 1 level.

At some point Ashley will let go of the club once he's got his money back, someone with a brain will come in and that alone would probably let us get back to the Premiership eventually. We'll be in the wilderness for perhaps a decade at most. This club's too big to not rise again (same for places like Leeds or Southampton, which we'll surely see back in the top flight sooner or later.)

Until then it's just a matter of clenching our teeth and persevering through the worst.

What are we, the 20th largest city in Britain? Hardly one of the largest

The City boundaries are drawn in a very strange way, meaning that we fall some way down the "largest cities" league.  In 1974 (when the boundaries were artificially drawn) large parts of 'what is really' Newcastle were 'left out' of the City, in order to bolster the populations of (and create viable Metropolitan boroughs for) Gateshead and North Tyneside, and leave a reasonable urban population within South East Northumberland. . . . If all of Greater Newcastle (places that are in existence because they have grown and developed because they are part of the 'Greater Newcastle conurbation') were actually officially included within our City Boundary - we would be seen as the big City that we actually are.

So, we DO have a large population (it is just 'fragmented' between neighbouring Local Authorities) and so inevitably our well supported Big City football club will survive and return to the top flight.

But, for a while Mr Ashley will wreak his vengeance on us, and we are in for a VERY difficult year or two (or three) ahead.

This is going round in circles.  less than 2 weeks back the suggestions of not attending games got some heavy criticism and the usual, he's trying to sell stance.  Nothing is happening.  It would have been better to not attend any pre-season games than decide to do owt once the season starts.  An empty stadium tomorrow would be a major event.  It does go against the grain of supporting, but waiting for the train to crash is suicide.

to be honest, the whole big population = prosperous club notion is nonsense anyway. The area for which Leeds basically dominates is absolutely massive and look at them

That kind of thinking is pretty short term though. They've been out of the top flight for what, five years now? And a lot of that time was wasted on dealing with ownership issues and sorting out financial irregularities. They'll be back sooner or later.

It's just not possible for a club the size of NUFC (or Leeds) to fail completely, the laws of capitalism won't allow for it. At some point

the club becomes so devalued that it has to become worth it for somebody to invest the time/money to build it back up again.

blackpool, plymouth, scunthorpe, barnsley, peterborough and doncaster.

to call their squads weak would be a colossal understatement. no doubt one or two of them will defeat us - as always - but theyre clearly nowhere as good as even a severely weakened NUFC squad. the only thing that might relegate us is a 10 point penalty, but in footballing terms, we're far away from a bottom 3 team.

You're wasting your time GDM, that lad is convinced that NUFC have some sort of divine right to premiership football.

Perhaps he's not wanting to switch allegiances to the Big4 just yet, in case our massive population scores enough goals to take us back up first time of asking...

Wolves fans, Leeds fans, Notts Forest fans, Sheff Wed fans even Norwich Ipswich and Southampton fans- they all think they have a divine right to Prem football

You telling me we are less deserving than all of these ?

What you're failing to appreciate is that there's a massive difference between journeyman pros who want to work for each other to get the best results they can for themselves and their clubs, compared to a bunch of overpaid, overrated individuals who don't want to work for their wage and have no allegiance to, or respect for, NUFC and it's supporters.

On paper we might have one of the best squads in the division, but in reality we are going to struggle big time with the current bunch of wasters, and with Chris Hughton in charge.

surely the point is that no-one has the divine right to Premier League football.

Mike Ashley: "Well theres only one offer left on the table.....from Freddy. I think we know what our only option is"

**his "Yes men" nod in unison**

Mike Ashley: "Lets call the administrators"

Is that seriously whats going to happen??? A lot of this financial stuff is over my head, so apologies in advance. He'd rather go into administration than accept an offer (albeit not quite the offer he was looking for) from FFS???
