David28
Harper could have been beaten by them goals yesterday, I say we cash in on Krul. Seriously?

David28
Well, just wanted to know. I've said last summer, days after we sold Barton, that Krul would be the next one.

ponsaelius
Aye, nee Lev Yashin this lad. Sell.
Tiresias
Tim Howard is a penalty saving machine iirc. If Krull is bad at saving penalties, I'll take that, he's good at everything else...apart from distribution. Hope he works on that a lot over the season, needs improving. WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Given was f***ing terrible at saving penalties - maybe because he was so short, it was difficult for him to intimidate opponents into taking poor penalties by trying to hard to put into the corner. Can't remember Harper saving any either Have a bit more hope for Krul, as he's quite tall and very agile. Just needs to work on his pre-penalty posturing and be decisive/pick a direction to dive. The three I remember Given saving were all awful penalties. Ravanelli's against Derby, Baros' away at Villa and Neuville's vs. Leverkusen. None were hit particularly hard and none were right in the corners. Baros' was straight down the middle and Given saved it with his legs.
Pilko
He saved that shit Koevermans one at SJP too and also Nolan's shit one against us in the relegation season.

ponsaelius
Yashin was apparently estimated to have made over 150 penalty saves in his career.
Sifu
The lad needs to work on his kicking. Fantastic save from Balotelli in the first half
Ronaldo
Size, agility and intelligence saves penalties. Krul will learn to save them in time.

Ronaldo
Not without the other two attributes it doesn't. A good penalty taker (and every PL club has one) will be able to pretty much put the ball wherever he wants.
Guest Rey Mysterio
Thomas Sorensen has always been decent at saving pens.
bowlingcrofty
Doing your homework saves penalties. Aye it can certainly increase your chances. When sky sports put the graphics up they usually stick about 80% of them in the same corner. Shearer most of the time went to the keepers right in the top corner etc.
Ronaldo
I don't remember too many Shearer penalties ending up in the top corner, like.
NEEJ
Shearer more often than not would just welly it.
Greg
Put a fair few in the top corner, pen against Argentina in France 98 comes to mind. Twice.
Guest Haris Vuckic
I find that a good way to save a penalty is to actually dive.
Dr Venkman
I'd say shearers were always in the top quarter of the net to the keepers right, not all the way in the corner but high, wide and hard enough to no give them much chance. Every now and then he'd go on the deck to the keepers left to mix it up.
Hughesy
I don't remember too many Shearer penalties ending up in the top corner, like. It's where he used to put nearly all his penalties early on. Quite a few of them would hit the roof of the net and still be rising - almost unstoppable. He seemed to stop doing that later on in his career.
Nobody
I find that a good way to save a penalty is to actually dive. It wouldn't have surprised me if Balotelli tried a cheeky chip in the middle.
