Really looks to have finally fulfil his potential since (and including) the Championship season. He is a very good defender and a good foil for Colo. If we could keep him fit our centre of defence would be pretty bloody good, not to mention Perchinho :D

He was outstanding today and looks quite sharp and strong. Loved the header back to Krul moment.

The passion when he was getting everybody to play a higher line for the spurs freekick was also quite inspiring.

scary moment when defoe cut in and hit the post but if he had gone clattering into him then he would have given away the penalty so he got lucky there.

Well played big man, must have been really tough late on for him after such a long time out but he looked in good shape. And that header :)

The Taylor of old would have dived in, he is improving and showing he isn't this oaf of a defender, he's actually a very good defender with brains. His problem has always been his passion and his desire if you like to be that all-action hero type figure which we would all probably try to be in his position, as Geordies, playing for our beloved club. Nowt wrong with that by the way but in the heat of the battle it can be a problem, i.e. diving in etc. Colo has obviously been a big help as has Hughton and Pardew too, both former defenders. That and we have a very good midfield these days which means our defenders are not asked to defend for their lives if you like. Hopefully an England call-up is on the cards for him this season.
