What is a 6 pointer? Never understand the term

Crucial game against an opponent as directly affected by the result as you are. So you win and gain 3 points but deny them 3 points too = 6 points.

It's a cliché but if you are playing a team you are level with or on similar points the theory is if you win you gain 3 points while denying your rival 3 points and hence the term six pointer.

Remember those ask the referee articles in The Guardian or something? Where the reader was presented with a situation (e.g. a defender knees it back to the 'keeper, is it a back pass?) and they have to work out the outcome? Is that still a thing?

You are the ref?

Seems to have ended in 2016: https://www.theguardian.com/football/series/you-are-the-ref

Just hit me that it would be interesting to watch a game where you're allowed to punch the ball. Obviously part of the game would be very different, but it would remove all the contentious penalty decisions.

Anyone else interested in seeing a game like that or believe it could possibly be better than the game we've got now?

Just punch it like or can you hold it? Its basically gaelic football if you want to see one where they can hold it

Just punching.

Would you be able to do it if you're part of the wall on a free kick? Would absolutely ruin set piece specialists to have deal with a wall that's now an extra 2-3 feet in height. It would be an interesting change though if handballing as a punch was no longer a foul.

Ever see it's a knockout ? You can play a Joker in a game and double your points, so if you win 3 points become 6 hence 6 pointer. Last season we played our Joker in the Home game against Norwich which is why we actually went for it after going behind.

Tonight could be considered as one. If Everton win, the gap between us is 7 points and they'll look like a team we can forget about chasing. If we win, the gap is 1 point.

What happened to the 6 second rule for goalkeepers with the ball?  Is it even a rule anymore?

Adrian just collected it and had hold of it for 16 seconds and it felt like a pretty normal (now) length of time he had it, even though he's clearly time wasting already

In relation to this - Pickford held onto the ball for 14, 16 and 19 seconds on 3 occasions during the second half today.

I’m not moaning that he did, was just interested to see just how badly this rule is enforced.

Am I right in thinking that the teams relegated from Division 1 in 91/92 were relegated to the same league because of the Premier League starting in 92/93?

If a defender in his own box tries wriggling free from a striker for instance, loses the ball and goes down looking for a free-kick to bail him out, can a referee award a penalty for simulation?
