Colocho
Well that's bollocks because Liverpool's doctor said he passed. Well the point that he has aggravated an injury that has been a problem in the past remains. The same goes for Santon.

You seem to be taking a weird pleasure in Marveaux's injury.
TRon
Look mate, you said you wouldn't give him a 5 year deal but you'd be happy to give him 3. What's the point? It makes no difference, hardly going to effect his current injury is it? Fair enough if you say we shouldn't have signed him at all - but the contract length is completely immaterial. Nonsensical point. No, but it decreases the risk of having a crock on our books long-term. I'm still glad we took a punt. He looks good enough to wait for another couple of months, and there aren't many injuries these days that keep a player out indefinitely.

You seem to be taking a weird pleasure in Marveaux's injury. It's a groin injury, so I'd hedge my bets that it's the same injury or a similar one to what he suffered last year. Santon too has been troubled by the same injury two or three times now (right knee). They are both quality players with bags of potential - but it's concerning to see injuries that have troubled them in the past flaring up... Having discussed Marveaux with some of my friends in France, it seems to be a popular belief that Rennes were not willing to offer him a new contract due to his problems with injuries. colinmk
Considering there were question marks over the fitness of Marveaux, Santon and Ba (possibly Obertan too) when they signed, I'd say one of the three was bound to flare up. Fingers crossed the other two stay fit as I'd say this is the least important of the three.

The 25-year-old was forced off during the Magpies' victory over Everton earlier this month and was subsequently assessed by the Club's medical staff. Marveaux will now travel to the renowned Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado, where he will be operated on by Dr Marc Philippon - one of the world's leading orthopaedic hip surgeons. Marveaux joined Newcastle in the summer from Rennes and has made nine appearances to date, mainly from the substitutes' bench. The Club will provide further updates after the operation. TRon
No wonder not even Liverpool would touch him. Liverpool were prepared to still take him but wanted to renegotiate his contract. We offered better terms by the looks of it, probably figuring on a free it's worth the risk.

Hmm, this could actually be a serious injury, could be a longer layoff than expected.
binnsy
For the millionth time he DID NOT fail a medical at Liverpool, NUFC hijacked the deal when Marveaux was on route to Liverpool for talks and a medical but diverted to Newcastle and signed for us instead. TRC
How have Liverpool dodged a bullet? The tackle that Heitinga did on him was a borderline drop kick.
oldtype
One bad injury from a despicable tackle doesn't mean that he's suddenly nailed on to be a crock for life. We've got the squad depth to survive without him anyway.
alexf
Just watched it back again and yeah it looks like there are about 3 moments during the run and the tackle where he really strains/stretches the groin and when the tackle itself happens he already looks like he is pulling up slightly but then appears to jar his hip as he falls awkwardly. So nothing to suggest he' s a crock. Could just be unlucky but there may be a weakness in that area from previous injuries. It's a shame was looking forward to seeing what he could do. 3 months isn't that long though, baring any setbacks we'll at least have him back for a decent chunk of the season still
