If this is where Ashley is, not even considering sacking Pardew despite the whole world asking him to do so, acting like he's hearing some preposterous notion for the very first time, I'm done watching games from now on. I was gonna catch the Swansea game tomorrow in the hope that we lose and he finally goes, but it seems this regime does not let you entertain any hope whatsoever. Ashley's only interraction was to nod with a serious face when I said "you've signed some great players", as if to say "that's right". Wouldn't read much into Llambias' words. It was just a gentle way to tell me to fuck off but I still can't understand his initial reaction - "Sack him??" He really sounded like that's completely out of question, like they're not the people who can sack Alan Pardew. (which Llambias isn't tbf). Still can't believe I saw them like. They were both standing casually at the corner of a pub each with an empty pint in their hand. As I was leaving they were joined by a couple of other men who I recognise from seeing them in the Directors box alongside Ashley in matches. I wish I reacted in a different way. Shouldn't have said anything to my wife when I saw them and just should've bought a couple of beers and stand next to them to listen what they talk about.. Wasn't very polite to start talking to them as I was passing by but I had to do it. I simply told Ashley "You have to sack Alan Pardew. This ain't football. You know it, you watch the matches.". Ashley kinda took a step back and remained silent while Llambias reacted with a high pitched "Sack him?? What do you mean??" Like I made the most outlandish suggestion.. I was very nervous but I had to continue "the conversation" so I said something like "I appreciate everything you've done for the club /I don't/, you've brought some great players.." to which Ashley nodded, probably relieved that I won't attack him or something. I continued with "but Pardew ruins them. How could he get rid of a genius like Ben Arfa?" and LLambias interrupted me, patting me on the shoulder "It's only been a few games lad. Keep the faith. It's a long season.." To which I mumbled "Aye, it's been three very long seasons. Sorry to interupt you guys" and I left. Should've tried to get something more of them. But I got a bit starstruck and my wife was pulling me the whole time. She knows how much I shout at the TV, she was afraid I might do some stupid s***. Not that I can take much from this little encounter but I'm afraid Ashley doesn't even consider sacking Pardew. Worth quoting to keep on this page. Well handled in the circumstances junkhead. In his bio it says: "His strong relationships within the UAE - built up over the past 22 years - have been responsible for a number of leading Arab investors making significant investments in Europe. As Vice Chairman of Newcastle United Football Club, Tony was instrumental in negotiations to sell the club to the Dubai government. While the deal was not finalised due to the club owner changing his mind, Tony was nonetheless indispensable when it came to introducing potential buyers and leading negotiations." So it seems like Jimenez was actually working with, or maybe for, DIC to oversee the sale to them, which Ashley eventually backed out of. Not really relevant to anything now but it's not something I've seen talked about on here before and it's an interesting insight into what was going on behind the scenes when Keegan quit. I was aware of this at the time - Ashley went to a casino in Dubai instead of keeping the appointment with the Emiratis...they bought Man C instead....... No surprise that he has doubled his stake in Rangers - all he needs is them to be back in the SPL and it will all be going to his plan... The stuff about Ashley's trip to Dubai was widely reported at the time (btw, the Man City owners are from Abu Dhabi and bought Man City two weeks before Ashley went to Dubai). What I didn't know is that Jiminez may have been the Dubai group's man rather than Ashley's. Which, if that was the case, seems like a bit of a potential conflict of interests given that the Dubai group would have obviously wanted to get the club for as little as possible.
