Our posession would be so much better with decent fullbacks, and it would mean Ben Arfa being put in better positions to have an impact. In response to Ben Arfa not having a position. Raylor and Simpson are two hugely depressing parts of the team right now.

Unlucky lads. Pardew needs to take a long hard look at himself though..

Why? Don't see what he did wrong.

Ryan Taylor.

Obviously has his reasons. Santon isn't a defensive fullback anyway.

Neither is Raylor ffs.

Also, despite them actually not being too bad, I'm disappointed he considers Lovenkrands and Ameobi good enough to change a game.

Some of the comments on here.

We've just played the 3 best teams in the league, two of them away from home, got defeated unluckily in 2 of them and got a lucky draw in the other. It's not like we've lost 3 in row against the likes of QPR, Swansea and Norwich.

wonder if those idiots who weren't concerned we didnt buy a centre-half this summer still hold that absurd opinion....

Will be fucking infuriating if that's our undoing.

It's taken longer than expected to become an issue, but if Colo and Taylor are each struggling for Norwich and beyond then we're in trouble. Williamson is still at least two weeks away as well. Simpson and Perch as a centre-back partnership in the Premiership as about as bad as it gets.

Didn't think it was a "horrible" game mind, thought there were a load of instances where we were a bit of composure away from fashioning a clear chance - Ba and Obertan the worst culprits here. I was pleasantly surprised with Lovenkrands in particular and Krul was absolutely outstanding. Not too disheartened, just worried about the injuries.

Never want to see Obertan pull on our shirt again.

Come on, now.

That plonker has been almost persistently sh*t. His ball control, composure strength and confidence are bollocks.

You're right like. I'm not saying he can't be good, he has potential. But he's been consistently poor if we're being frank. I think maybe 2 good crosses and a couple of games worth of pressure has been his contribution thus far this season

That's a red card at the start there every time. Love to hear the explanation.

Though we did alright till tiredness set in considering we were missing Collo, Guti and Tiote - arguably our three best players.

A Red card and one of the woodwork chances going in and it's a different game.

Krul MOM for me.

Krul - 9. Sensational.

Simpson - 5. Dreadful delivery and ropey in defence.

Taylor - 8. Did very well.

Perch - 6. Was okay but he's never a centre-back. Far too slight.

Raylor - 4. Rubbish. Absolutely found out.

Obertan - 5. Absolute horseshit man. Wish we'd chucked a few more quid at replacing Barton and signed N'Zogbia instead.

Cabaye - 7. Thought he was decent. Hassled well in the centre. Needs to get forward more/have Tiote behind him.

Guthrie - 7. As above really. I thought the centre-mids were our best players.

Lovenkrands - 6. Did alright going forward but invisible defensively and we paid for that.

Ba - 6. Lively in the first, subdued in the second. Should have done better with a couple of chances.

HBA - 6. In and out.

(Shola - 7. Thought he was good.)

Ben Arfa was quiet, just wish he had played instead of Obertan on the RW, Can't believe how much he wasted Obertan, unbelievable, Ben Arfa would have got alot of time on the flank and would have been dangerous for us, juest keep Widén like Obertan and he would of got the ball alot.

Incredibly unlucky. Colo's injury cost us the game.

Chelsea were nowt special, Mata was the only one to give us any real trouble. Sturridge started bright but did bugger all from around 20mins in until the 90th minute (when he scored against a 3-man defence). The first goal was poor marking from Perch, and the second, again, a missed Perch challenge let Chelsea through. Had Colo not taken a knock we'd have contained them quite comfortably.

We had the ball cleared off the line and hit the woodwork thrice. On another day we'd have got something from that.

It was a little frustrating that when we finally brought on Sammy, a player who can get in behind the defence, we still continued to lump it forward or build up slowly. We should have been releasing him quickly on the break, stretching Chelsea, and giving Ba and Ameobi space in the middle. Instead our front two were marked out of the game quite easily.

What a game from Krul, mind.

Oh, and obviously a straight red, etc.

feel grim after that. luck has completely turned against us. To be missing Tiote, Colo, Saylor, Marveux though injury is proving a nightmare.

Never want to see Obertan pull on our shirt again.

obertan had a shocker today, cole had him in his pocket all day long.  he also gave the ball away many times,  but what you dont see is,  when obertan plays. he stops the opposition's fullback pushing up because they all frightened of his pace.

cole could not attack at all today.  but having said that obertan were poor with the ball all day.
