Or did that actually contribute to making Ben Arfa a better player (for the team, not on a technical aspect with the ball)? I'd say Pardew's role has been crucial. However exasperating it was for us to see a talented player being held back, it was the tough love that the player needed. Instead of an individual who only played when he had the ball, we've now got a real team player who concentrates all the time and really hurts the opposition when opportunity arises.
