Guest bimpy474
We're playing better football, stands to reason we would get more players in the box as we're being more attacking. Same thing if you're defensive you get less. As long as Pardew keeps this offensive stance up no one can complain.

Wide players really do need to be getting in the box when the crosses are coming in from the opposite wing, it's pretty basic stuff, especially if you are lining up 4-3-3. I'm just surprised that we haven't done it more previously, but then when one of your wingers is Jonas it's not that much of a surprise.

The Jonas thing is correct as he's so limited in attack but there's definitely a more attacking positive outlook, and the passing is so much shorter. Still baffled why it just needed Remy to make it happen as Pardew is seemingly indicating. The team is being positive and that is coming from Pardew, just as the negative defensive outlook came from him too. Prefer the positive stuff myself

TaylorJ_01
Obviously not. What is encouraging is that he's looking to improve the consistency and effectiveness of our best player. Especially considering how often we're told that we only work on defensive duties in training. If he/they is/are doing this for Hatem, chances are we do actually attempt to improve the attacking abilities of all of our players. But, aye, it'll be played down now. Then we'll be doing s***, and every other post will be an hilarious quip about 'twenty minutes on attacking' in training. I love how we've won a few games and you now think you're some sort of prophet.
Guest icemanblue
Do you? Why? I ask because I don't think that, at all. In fact, I've been playing down getting ahead of ourselves before we put together a consistent run of form.
DJ_NUFC
Catch-22. Situated in Canada, I have no idea where to get a proper shirt from, so I went onto the SD website and saw they were selling last year's Ben Arfa shirts (sans the Wonga logo, of course) for twenty quid. Don't wanna line the fat one's pockets, but also badly want his shirt. Bah. Any suggestions?
Lenny
Anyone read the .com match report? For the villa game? "Alan Pardew raved about his side after the game, especially Hatem Ben Arfa's performance, but to these eyes neither were anything special and made to look better than they were by some shocking defending and sloppy passing from the home side." Utter shit IMO They have a tendency to watch a different match to the majority. I often go on there off the back of a decent win looking forward to a positive write-up and they've played down the performance.

Guest icemanblue
Long balls = players fault, not pardew Ben Arfa in attacking positions - Pardews coaching Absolute worthy logic going on here! You what now?

Guest icemanblue
It may be comparitive, but not quite to the extremes you've used. I've always maintained that Pardew was not solely repsonsible for every long ball we've ever played. However, I don't see how that means he's not in any way responsible for an alteration in Hatem's game. Nor am I sure how it is ' worthy logic'. binnsy
got to be a massive worry that the person responsible for trying to tie Hatem down to a new contract (and should be happening now really) is Joe Kinnear!!

Mick
Have I got this right? When Pardew was shouting "Hatem, get back" he actually meant "Hatem, get in the box." At least that's clear now.
