Now we know Pardew WANTS us to play direct, s**** football I honestly have lost all faith in him. Call me knee-jerk, I don't care. Direct football doesn't always have to be shite. johnnypd Posted January 4, 2012 Share Posted January 4, 2012 Ben Arfa's had his softly-softly bedding in period after the injury - he's been back since September and it's now 2012. the only way he can go from his current level of match fitness to getting back in some kind of peak creative form is having a run of games, where he starts week in, week out. We very rarely play through the middle and the ball is hit vast distances and hence we put ourselves under pressure through lack of posession. Every long pass becomes a 50/50. Real Madrid for example are very direct, does anyone find them boring? But yh i agree with Sewelly its just w*ank Stoke long ball baby back Bullsh*t, also coincedently we won more games playing the other way and got the most out of more of our players...... Playing Santon, Colo, Cabaye, Ben Arfa and it shouldnt be too hard to play some decent football but Pardew obviously disagrees.... Unfortunatly now this has came out less than 24 hrs before the game i get the feeling Pardew will use it as an excuse to bench him again ( like he needed one of those anyway) So the template has gone from Arsenal to Stoke? He does though because he's a far greater footballer. Absolutely eons ahead of any of them, and Obertan. Do you propose we give all of our new signing the Santon/HBA treatment, because they "havn't proven themselves" with us yet? Point taken but no obviously I'm not proposing that. Ben Arfa broke his leg horrendously, there's a big difference. I'd put Santon and Ferguson straight in ahead of Simpson and R.Taylor without doubt. I'm sure a fair few would consider this our most likely starting Xl: Krul - Woeful with the ball at his feet. Simpson - Enough said. Colo - Superb on the ball, great at bringing the ball out of defence. Williamson - Poor on the ball. Ryan Taylor - Hopeless at carrying the ball; strikes it really well. Obertan - Absolutely f***ing crap. Cabaye - Superb on the ball; frequently has difficulty imposing himself. Will improve in time. Tiote - Very average on the ball; frequently gives it away in dangerous areas. Jonas - Superb close control; passing and being required to impart any pace on the ball exposes his massive lack of talent. Ba - Our best striker and arguably our most important player alongside Colo. Thrives primarily on crosses - high and low. HBA - Provides a strong argument to keep the ball down.
