Parky Posted February 20, 2012 Share Posted February 20, 2012 This is getting a bit boring but this is my input: Ben Arfa should be starting games, it's as simple as that. Pardew's handling of this whole affair (comments in public instead of private, etc.) is definitely one thing which I disagree with but to suggest that Pardew shouldn't be managing the club because of such a situation is quite laughable imo. This may be massive wishful thinking on my part but I'm pretty certain Pardew wants to play Ben Arfa in the team but for unknown reasons (we really don't know what's going on behind the scenes), it's simply not happening. Hmmm. Mind you though, I'll go as far as to say that I'm confident Ben Arfa has a future here. I say, let's wait and see what happens between now and the end of the season - on the one hand, the situation could improve very favourably or on the other, the situation deteriorates, ie. he doesn't get into the team even though the likes of Cabaye and Tiote are in the side. There is simply no logic for starting Obertan and Raylor ahead of Ben Arfa other than there is a personality clash between the 2. Really disappointing if that turns out to be the case, will be gutted if he moves on in the summer without getting a fair crack. I'm all for Sad Taylor being a cult hero after the goal against the Mackems, but honestly having him starting ahead of a talent like Ben Arfa is an absolute disgrace. This game would have been perfect for him to get a shot starting on the right, nobody will ever convince me that Taylor starting is the right move here, even if he goes out and scores a belter and has a great game. Guest tunisia Posted February 23, 2012 Share Posted February 23, 2012 hello I am sure now that Ben Arfa will not stay at Newcastle next year. he had a lot of teams that wanted him, but the Newcastle president had promised to have an important and especially that he would trust. Today, it is just replacing yet he trains seriously, makes no noise, and made good games. he fact of not being named in team of France while there are players who are rubbish at this point, some are in the teams ranked last. The only position you could make a reasonable case for Raylor being a first choice is at right back, but even then I'd still rather have Simpson. It is always highlighted that he is a dead ball specialist, but surely between Demba, Cabaye and Hatem we'd just about be able to cover a couple of corners and the odd free kick in range! He's created far more in open play....created might be the wrong word but you know what I mean. His ability to pass and move is nil. Not having a single wide player who can deliver a ball a) naturally and b) competently is a big issue for us. I'd have him at right back too personally - for someone who makes a big deal, when it comes to Ben Arfa at least, of dropping players if he thinks they're not doing it, Pardew doesn't half give Simpson plenty of rope. As someone who is clearly our weakest link amongst the regulars, him being our only ever present just blows my mind - he's even started every cup game ffs. Can't say I've noticed a massive difference between them defensively this year, and offensively (which is just as much a part of a full back's job) it's chalk and cheese. I reckon Simpson could try 100 times under no pressure and not deliver a single decent cross. Even the chances of him managing a simple pull back like Taylor vs Bolton are zero. Seeing as Pardew played Taylor there for most of this season ahead of Santon, he obviously disagrees with you anyway, which still begs the question of why not play him at right back, or left back and switch Santon?
